All candles probably contain chemicals that you shouldn't be inhaling, but good-quality, clean-burning, unscented, and uncolored candles are probably pretty safe. The ones you really need to watch out for are the ones that burn too quickly, with strong scents, or too much smoke. Many candles contain metals such as lead and mercury, which are unquestionably bad for you. If you burn them often or in enclosed spaces, you could be causing yourself serious harm. -yk

no just make sure you keep the wicks trimmed on them. If not they will produce black smoke..I have candles all over my house and have no problems

Depends on what you are doing with them. If you only eat one or two small ones a day you should be OK.

Too many can deplete the oxygen in a "sealed" environment.
