My boyfriend's family owns a boxer, and I hear stories about him. That he was a riot. They bought him as a family dog and he cilngs to the family. They tell me he use to chase squirrels, tear up cardboard boxes when he was a puppy. A lot of stories. Right now he's 13 and still going good.
The past 2 1/2 years that I know him I think he is good and puts up with A LOT! I recently got a puppy and she jumps in his face, and jumps all over him and he puts up with it. He doens't get mad and jumps in her face, nor barks at her..just walks away. I feel bad for him so I give him treats. He's great and I love him very much as if he was mine. Plus he likes me (I'm the only one he gives kisses too yay me)! Good Luck!!!!!

My husband and I got a boxer for our wedding present to each other. We also have a mutt and a cat, and I could not be more pleased with this dog. As previously stated watch out with the young kids I have a 5 year old neice and a 2 year old nephew and the boxer does like to jump, but we are not allowing anyone to pet him unless he is sitting down, this helps with the jumping. I have had dogs my whole life and our boxer has got to be the most affectionate dog I have ever had, you have to be a true dog lover to appreciate a boxer, I hope you like kisses. Before we got him, I read just about any article I could find and every single one talked about how great they are with kids.

Yeah they're great, but HYPER
If you want to be sure, Go to YAHOO! and type in "dog breed selector" Several questionnaires will come up. They will ask you about your lifestyle and preferences. This should give you a good idea about the breed good for you. Once you get it narrowed down, go to akc.com and look at the breed standard. then you may want to volunteer at a shelter or rescue so you can meet the dogs in person and see if you connect. Another resource might be to go to a dog show. Whatever you do, don't go to a pet shop or a backyard breeder

Definitely, boxers are sweet, loyal family dogs and do great with kids. Just be careful if you have any toddlers, boxers got their name because they like to stand up and push you with both front feet, an excited puppy could accidently knock down a small child. Never leave any puppy unsupervised with any child. But they are great dogs!

I have owned three of them in my lifetime and I used to say that they woule lick you to death before they would bite you. But as with all dogs they need to be treated as an animal. Make sure your children know when to be cautious with the dog, such as feeding times and such, and I promise you the boxer with make an excellent pet. Best of luck

I am a vet We have a boxer He is wonderful calm and well-behaved. The pup's personality will most likely be similar to his parents. That is why it is very important to see one or both parents. Handle the parents to see how well they behave. If they are mean the pup will probably grow up to be aggressive also.

I own a female brindle boxer, yes she is gentle and sweet.I would recommend one, course you have to have your children respect animals, and treat them kindly.Mine when she sees children her attention turns to them right away.Good luck finding your puppy.

It is necessary that the children respect the dog, and know that he isn't a toy.
