Thank you Thank you!!! I feel so much better for all of your answers! I was a little worried about asking, fearing I was going to hear all bad news. I'm going to ask next time we go to Speech Thearpy if they think she has this. My daughter is smart, I know she is, and talking comes when it comes, Just like walking, crawling, and any other thing that people need to learn or do. I just have to keep reminding myself this, and thank all of you reminding me again. Thank you.

I just read your original question and my son, 19months, is the exact same way! I was worried, but after speaking with the pediatrician at his 16 month visit, I feel better! He said as long as he understands what I'm saying and is communicating somehow(my son has his own language), then he's just going to be a late talker. I HIGHLY recommend reading a books by Thomas Sowell called, "Late talking Children" and "The Einstein Syndrome: Bright Children who Talk Late." The first was inspired by his son, who he noticed was extremely bright but not talking. The second is about Einstein being a very late talker and it also discusses other bright/famous people who were late talkers.

The book descriptions on Amazon do a very good job and, like I said, I highly recommend reading at least the first one-he did a lot of research about the subject and shares his findings. Incidentally, Sowell's son didn't talk until he was 4 and he is now a successful computer engineer! Good luck!
