I am talking about the item that each church has that belongs to the saint of the church...like a bone or cloth or somthing else.
What is it called and is there a place to learn about the various articles that various churches have?

Sorry, i am talking about a catholic church.
For example...I belong to St, Stephens parish and built into to back alter, we have a piece of cloth from St. Stephen.
I know that this is common, I ust want to know what it is called. simply a relic?

You are correct, it is called a relic. In the early days of the Catholic Church the church was named for the saint placed in a tomb there. In fact some early altars themselves were the actual crypt for the body (hence there shape like a tomb) and that is why in a Catholic Church the altar is sacred. As the Church grew the availablity and identity of entire remains of saints became an issue. Therefore, to this day only a small piece of bone or cloth is actually imbedded in the altar before it is consecrated. also the identy of the actual "relic" is often unknown other than it was from a "saint"
