Your supposed to buy you wedding party gifts which I understand and don't see a problem with but all the books I have got recently say the bride and groom buy each other a gift also. Why? Isn't it already a beautiful gift in getting married and dedicating your lives to one another? We are paying for our own wedding and I don't see the purpose in spending money on it?

We gave each other something for our wedding - Our love for each other forever - Our vows. That's it. That was enough for us.

We felt, we're going to have a lifetime together to get each other monetary gifts. Our vows were the only gift we wanted to give each other.

Our other gift was everyone that we cared about came to the wedding to see us get married. That meant the world to us !

That was all we needed.

Congratulations & Good luck to you both!

You're absolutely right in your philosophy, however, it is customary to each get each other a gift, traditionally speaking. My husband bought my pearl necklace that I wore with my wedding dress and I bought him a lighthouse sculpture since he just got out of the Coast Guard. I don't see anything wrong with not getting a gift. Or how about this, engrave each others rings with your own sentiment that they discover on the actual wedding day. What a lovely gift that would be. Good luck.

To be honest you know your wife better than anyone answering but rather than go for the typical jewellery option you could book tickets to see her favourite show at the theatre and surprise her with them on the morning of the wedding, or you could do a boudoir shot (which I would LOVE as a pressie from my h2b as it's typically the female who has one), or make a scrapbook of all the little things you might have kept from early in the relationship and fill it with memories. It's just my opinion but I think these things are that bit more personal.

We didn't buy each other gifts. Some people do but, its really not someting I would suggest I agree with you idea dedicating your life to each other is teh biggest gift. If you do feel you have to buy him a gidt get him something that he can wear and pass down to future children on their wedding day.

I dont see why you should have to get each other gifts, but if you wanted to give each other something get a small gift for each other, something that is engraved to remeber one of the most important days in your life. it does not have to expensive. You could give each other a bible with your names on them.

The rings you exchange are the gift to each other.
You love is freely given & society tries to commericalize your union. Resist the encouragement to buy anything other than your rings. Good luck!
