Spend thousands of dollars on cat food and point out to your mom that it would be a shame if so much money went to waste.

I hope your last cat was left with a friend or family member- or adopted by somebody else that was going to take great care of your last pet. If your cat was just tossed on the side of a highway or let out of the house to fend for itself- your family is probably not really able to handle the commitment of bringing a pet home. If you did leave it somewhere responsible (family or friend) then you should show your mom how responsible you can be around your home. Take on more chores so she can see that you will be responsible in feeding the cat and cleaning the litter. Also, see if you could volunteer at a local animal shelter so your mom could see how serious you are, and you can get more access to needy cats that your mom might fall for too!

Don't bring one home as a surprise. Your mom still may not want you to keep the cat. Before you think of ways you can change your moms mind...take time to think if you should get one at this point in your life. If you keep moving, do you want to drag your cat around. What is the point of having a cat if you can't bring it with you?

Could you settle for a smaller pet, like mabye a hamster or gerbil? My younger sister really liked her gerbil.

Arguing with your parents isn't going to get you anywhere, and the more you force the issue, the more your mom is going to say no. She has her reasons, and she'll let you have another cat when she thinks it's time.
