I am looking for a very conservation Christian denomination, but without the weird elements found in the Mormon church and in the Jehovah's Witnesses. By "weird" I mean such things as the Book of Mormon, polygamy, the ban on blood transfusions, etc. But I do want a church denomination that, like the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses, takes evangelization very seriously, and which views all other church denominations as heretics or infidels.

OK I am going to address your issues about LDS religion I mean the Book of Mormon, Have you ever read it? It is just another testament of Jesus Christ here on the American Continent. We believe when Jesus stated I have other sheep which are not of this fold he was speaking of those in the Americas You should look at the history of the Mayans and how they speak about a great white God that came from heaven to visit. That was one of the reasons they were taken in by people who, concurred them so easily they thought it was the great white God come back to them.
Regarding Polygamy it is no longer practiced you would be excommunicated if you did. Most were in Name only because of death of a spouse, husband died in the Mormon battalion children needed a father fiqure etc.
There is fundamentalists LDS religion that do pratice polygamy,it is a break off of LDS church who are not of the LDS faith at all and have no temple covenants.

As for wearing special clothing yes those who go and take eternal covenants with God in his temple do wear special clothes. These are to remind us day and night of those promises we made with God our father in his temple.

We take evangelization very seriously, and most of our teens at age 19 thru 21 go on missions for 2 years of there life or more and later when they are retried from there jobs I know a lady who went on missions for 7 straight years in Africa after she retried.. My husband is currently ward mission leader on a chuch level..

If you personally want to know the truth about a religion that goes for any religion you choose you need to study with there religion. Just not listen to heresy others put out about other people religion
Study for yourself with the religion, what ever you choose to be eventually. Formulateing your own ideas.

As for other religions being thought of as heretics or infidels we do not feel that at all.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing egood to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Hope this answers some of your questions and I thank you for reading my answer. Diane

Good answer Josh!! Anyways, the way I look at it is this: If someone claims to be Christian, then that's ok with me. It doesn't really matter if they are true Christians or not. Who am I to say they are wrong for their beliefs. They have just as much right as I do to believe what they want. The idea that the only Christian denominations that are "real" are those who believe in the trinity doesn't understand how the trinity came into being (the concept of the trinity). Do we believe in a trinity? In a way. We believe that God, Christ and the Holy Ghost make up the Godhead. Are they one in being? I don't think so. There are many things that lead me to think this, but since that wasn't part of your question, I'll leave it alone. I don't understand why others don't think that Catholics are Christian. Does anyone know how their church came into being? What church was it before it was what it was today? I think if they traced their roots, they would find that MOST of the Christian religions today broke off the Catholic faith. I know I'll get some thumbs down for that statement, but it's the truth. No one can tell me I'm going to hell but God. It is up to Him, and personally, I feel that if I live my life in accordance to Christ's teachings, I won't have a problem.

I'm not sure I understand your question. The last sentence is confusing. If you're looking for a church that takes evangelism seriously and views all other denominations as heretics or infidels, then yes, I'd suggest the United Pentecostal Church or something like it. Church of Christ is pretty exclusive too, so they might have what you're looking for. But I don't think any denomination is the one true denomination. All are flawed in one way or the other because they are made up of flawed people. I like the old adage: If you do find the perfect church, it won't be perfect after you join it. But Mormons and JWs aren't Christians. JWs will admit as much, while Mormons claim to be while denying that there is but One God.

I'm sorry, although your looking is good; what you're looking for doesn't make sense. Then you're obviously looking for a smaller church whose unpopular views are wrong. I'm not saying that Mormons or JWs are right. But, you're searching for something that fit's you, that's convenient to you.

I'm sorry but if you really think about it, a true church of Good isn't a convenience. A true Church states what you need to do to get to heaven, period. Not for you, you need this, but this guy it's this. Granted when we're judged we are judged according to our life and no-ones else's; but, certain slandered are the same across the board. Yes, look for a church whose views you agree with, and you are comfortable with. But, the only way your going to find a church of convenience is to start your own.

Not sure if I understand your question. If Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses see all other denominations as heretics, there is no other place for you to go.

But then I see Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses as heretics. What a world we live in.

It's tough to find a real bible church these days. I hope that is what you're looking for. Everyone says they are bible-based and Spirit-filled, but sooner or later, somebody from the pulpit throws out a real zinger.

You'll have to experiment by visiting new churches. Safest bets are those crazy fundamentalists. They don't change their story to suit anyone.

The 7thday Adventists. Some are vegetarians and vegans, but you dont have to be to worship there. Quakers, but I dont know if they do the evangelizing, they have quieter services. Go to beliefnet.com and do a denomination test and see where your beliefs would put you, I am 100% Quaker, 99% Seventh day advent. it give you percents of all denominations, matching it with your own beliefs. The Friday sunset to Saturday sunset Sabbath day is very important, see ex. 31:13, Deut. 6: 4-9 and Revelation 14:12 Gen 2:3 It mentions the "sign" like a mark or a seal between he and thee...

an apostolic or pentecostal church. or both i am a apostolic and we are part of the united pentecostal church. we take worshiping God serious as well as evangelizing. you wont fall asleep in our church. we just dont believe in other books we use the King James Bible only.

and we are not like catholics either were they have other books as well. we preach straight out of the Bible. we believe in preaching more then just a verse but the whole scripture.

HOWEVER the Bible does not talk about special temples that are only for certain people. we are all Gods temple now. and temples or just a church building are for anyone who want to worship and praise God. and the problem with mormons is that you wont find half the stuff they teach untell you go. they wont admit half the stuff they do in the temple. and i dont have a problem as much with there extra book however when they make it over the Bible then yes i do. and they cant tell you that they will say they still believe the Bible over it. however any thing against what they believe they will say the Bible is mistranslated and that the book of mormon is not and that the book of mormon is Gods word and the Bible is not. it is only as long as translated correctly. however it is translated correctly so they are without excuse now. anyways

pentecostal seems to fit what you are looking for. i am not puting any other churches down. not even the mormons because they too can be saved. just i have been to many different churches and most dont go out and witness as much. they dont worship as much. and you dont feel the presence of the Holy Ghost as much. the hard part is when you first go dont be surprised. most people at first are like ok this is different.

apostolic is the same. however there are others out there that are apostolic that dont do the same. if you can you can go to upci.org and they should beable to say were a church is. i am apostolic and we are part of the upci. there are other apostolics but are not part of it. just means our church is basically pentecostal.

four square churches are similar too. however the one i went to never really went out and door knocked either.

anyways hope this helps.

and the only reason i said stuff about mormons is because i know a lot more then most. and a lot of stuff you cant find out anyways because they are not to talk about it. and as i said there is so much you wont find out tell you go.

What exactly is weird about the Book of Mormon? And we don't practice polygamy... Agree with Dianehaggert here.
