As a New Yorker, I DO see the irony. The New Yorker who answered above is buying into Bush's BS. In NY, we have a huge population of loving peaceful muslims. It's terrible to me that people are buying into this hate war.
Unfortunately all of the extremist violence that is going on in the world has less to do with religion and more with their surroundings. Most religions have been responsible for terrible acts of violence at some point in history. It really is about the way people behave.

It's funny you know? We are all HUMAN BEINGS, but we just can't help it. None of these answers are going to change you.
I am a secular, jewish person. I don't go on bragging how we don't blow up the churches of germans because of their past. Nor do I like the fact that many of your kinsmen kill my kinsmen while they dance at disco or eat a pizza.
The killing of innocent people is not HATE, it's MURDER.
When the media is biased, the week sheep who must be sheperded by the media, the president, etc, are biased as well. It isn't any more ironic than french people calling Israeli soldiers "terrorists" when they kill palestinian "militants".
Now, I don't really feel anything as I say this, but I'm sure it's not the right thing to talk about. Muslims aren't more hateful than anyone, christians have a fad of simply punching atheists with stupid questions, atheists have the fad of living up to the nerd stereotype and answering creationists' stupid questions with answers that are too smart for them to understand, yet Budhists like to analyze things, find out that we all suffer and try not to. Do you see budhists fighting in the name of God? no.
We should take their example, yet if it were up to me, I'd forget all this useless crap, so that it remains that way. The more people think about God, creation vs evolution, hate, etc, the more we see of it. STOP ALREADY. Don't talk to the wall, don't be insulted by insults, don't be prideful, THAT'S what religion WANTS YOU TO DO. Well, if you (religious people in general) would, then I wouldn't be trying to prove the WORTH of a theory (evolution) which is supposed to be RESPECTED by religious people.
The irony is everywhere, belief is everywhere, COMMON sense is NOWHERE.

What I find even more ironic is how some muslims state how very peaceful and tolerant Islam is, and at the same time lack any courage to speak out against the barbarious actions of other moslems....I guess that is why smiling S labeled it a religion of lies and deception.

Most Muslim do not have access to internet. How can they post to Yahoo answers. When Pope said something that offended Muslims, thousands rallied, and treatened to kill the Pope. The Pope humbly said SORRY. But when Muslims, insults Christians, specially Catholics, we do not react violently..Thats the big diffence..
Hate, fear on Muslims was a result on how they interact with other religion in the real world...not only in Yahoo answers..
Yahoo serves as the media where Christians air their grievances among muslims because we are afraid to do it openly because 100%, we will be killed.

Yeah, go figure!
"The Islamic teachings have left great traditions for equitable and gentle dealings and behavior, and inspire people with
nobility and tolerance. These are human teachings of the highest order and at the same time practicable. These teachings
brought into existence a society in which hard-heartedness and collective oppression and injustice were the least as compared
with all other societies preceding it....Islam is replete with gentleness, courtesy, and fraternity."
(H.G. Wells)
"Islam is a religion that is essentially rationalistic in the widest sense of this term considered etymologically and historically....the teachings of the Prophet, the Qur'an has invariably kept its place as the fundamental starting point, and
the dogma of unity of God has always been proclaimed therein with a grandeur a majesty, an invariable purity and with a note
of sure conviction, which it is hard to find surpassed outside the pale of Islam....A creed so precise, so stripped of all
theological complexities and consequently so accessible to the ordinary understanding might be expected to possess and does
indeed possess a marvelous power of winning its way into the consciences of men."
(Edward Montet, 'La Propagande Chretienne et ses Adversaries Musulmans'. Also in T.W. Arnold in 'The Preaching of Islam')

Maybe not the muslims on this site... although there's probably still hate / oppression.
Are you fine with women dressing however they like?
Do you believe gay couples deserve the same rights straight couples enjoy?
Would you have any problem with somebody who decided to leave islam?
Then again, there's all the terrorists that call themselves muslim, and the hate towards different cultures.
Remember this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhas_of_Bamyan
Please tell me I'm wrong. Maybe it's just muslim countries that are hateful, not individuals living in the free world.

any "irony" gets lost in the videos of ppl being be-headed and the World Trade Center being hit by some more "un-hateful" muslims, not to mention calls for Israel to be wiped off the map, etc.,etc.,etc.
That "smiling_s..." guy really knows his stuff. How do ya like them apples?

I know muslims dont hate by themselves. They just do what is written in book.
That is why I call them morons. I think I should start calling them Morons instead of Islamic people.

I don't consider speaking out about a false religion hateful. I do consider be-headings, kidnappings and homicide bombings hateful though.
