Im a guy, I have had my cat for about 7 years since she was a kitten. She hates to be on my lap(I can pick her up and put her there but she jumps down after about 30 secs) but every time I have a girl over she will jump on their laps by herself and go to sleep. She only likes to lay on my feet or about 3 feet away from me. I know she likes me because she follows me around and loves to be pet. But what is it with only wanting to be held by girls?

Cats are funny in that some of them do not like for you to look at them. If you look at your cat while you hold it, it may be thinking you are aggressive. Maybe that's the problem? If you want to train the cat to sit in your lap, feed the cat so it has to sit in your lap while you give it food. Let it lick peanut butter off your finger or eat catnip while it is in your lap. My cat loves to sit in my lap when I am looking at something else like the t.v., the computer, or the newspaper. Cats also don't like to be held at certain times. They have times when they only want to play and only want pets. If you put it in your lap when it is in play mode, it will run off. Also, cats don't like to be placed on their backs and have their tummies petted like dogs. They like their heads petted. That may not be the problem though if you aren't petting its tummy. If the cat prefers a certain chair, and the women are sitting in that chair, the cat may be sitting in their laps just because they are sitting in his favorite chair. My cat loves cigarette smell and blue jeans and so he absolutely loves my dad. If your date smokes or wears jeans, this may be the attraction your cat is having. Hope this helps.

I have 4 cats and all of them will sit on my lap but not my dad's lap or my dates.Cats just don't like men very much, maybe it's a vibe they get from them or something. Sorry.. your date probably loves it though.

lol...thats exactly why i just got rid of my cat. cats scare me....their behavior can be so weird at times.
