Many of the people on here. are not even christians and some just go to church because it is a nice place to go. But I do agree with you that many churches are not really teaching the folks like they should. It has always been this way and the true christians always come through in the end. If you base your christianity on yahoo answers or some lukewarm church then you will never be much of a christian.
The bible says that in the last days there will be a great falling away. Don't be surprised when this happens, all of these supposed evolution facts will convince a lot of weak believers to give up their faith. Strengthen yourself in the word of God and he will help you..
After 30 years with Christ and all of the miracles that he has done in my life, I am not about to abandon Christ for the devil at this point in time..

Agreed, totally!
This might sound surpising - but both Jesus and Buddha warned their disciples about a future age such as ours.
Jesus warned us of false prophets who would do great things in His name. Buddha warned us about a future in which the scriptures themselves would almost vanish from the world - but he gaves hope, hope that there shall always be the faithful who keep the true faith alive.
First, let's not count the trolls as Christians. Trolls don't count! They never will!
As for the actual Christians on Yahoo - I hope that the Yahoo version of Christianity doesn't reflect the real-world thing - I hope!
I suspect the new, lax version of Christianity has a lot to do with the very American (sorry, dear Americans) concept of protecting freedom - at all costs.
Laziness is a also a huge problem. many probably read just a line or two from the Bible, hear a quote from a friend - then make erenous presumptions. And if you know how the internet works - erenous presumtions are an ocean in itself!
Next you hear a lot of talk about how we are 'saved by Grace' and that the Lord forgives all sin.
Let's not treat Jesus like a vending machine!
We also hear a lot about how we 'should pray for each other' and not bring each other down. That's another 'new Christian' philosophy' - a philosophy about encouraging each other, even if the crowd is doing the wrong thing.
Please, let us not twist the truth.
The 'new philosophy' also shows a lot of contempt for the old, ancient ways. They ridicule the Roman Christian church and its history and its doctrines and its fathers and its strict standards. At the very same time,Christians of the 'new philisophy' live the kind of life that would be on par with the debauchery of Pagan Rome and Babylon!
I'm not asking people to be perfect - but I do hope you can respect virtue, because some good things should never go out of fashion.

Well, I think a lot of people have a totally wrong view of the Bible, of Jesus, and of what Christianity is really about.
So churches with weird beliefs have started up also.
Some churches are a little lax.
Some aren't, but the message just doesn't seem to get through.
And some aren't lax, they're just messed-up. Their teaching doesn't line up with the Bible at all, even though they claim to be following it.

I certainly see a great deal of churches around here that spend more time playing rock music (usually called "gospel" with the words "God" and "Jesus" thrown in for good measure), entertaining, and politicizing than spending time preaching a message of love and forgiveness. I've also seen many "Christian" churches preaching hate and bigotry while claiming to be based around the Prince of Peace. I have nothing against God or Jesus, but the fan club I can't stand.

The Church has become extremely lax about teaching what the Bible spoke of as being right and wrong because they are afraid of offending people and scaring them away. This as people continue to attack the church as being exclusionary. Like everything else today all that the church is concerned about is making people feel good, not telling them what they actually need to know. The fact is that higher church attendance in the United States is somewhat artificial because our churches repeatedly changed their message to reflect changing views.

You are correct. The modern church is mostly about membership. I don't go to church, I spread the truth. Most times the truth is painful, but I speak truth, nonetheless. What good is the message of love and salvation, without the law, without knowing that God is more than love? People don't want to hear about His wrath nor His jealousy. Most churches are rearing a bunch of false converts, half-Christians, Christians in name only, who at the first sign of trouble turn from God. Why? Because they have not been prepared for the attack of the enemy. They were never saved, therefore, they were never Christian to begin with.
If I have been wrong in any of my answers, then correct me. Show me my errors. We are here (on earth) to learn and grow in faith and part of growing is correction.

I think that modern churches have strayed away from the words of Jesus, some to the extent that they do the opposite of what Jesus said to do.
Example - look at the people who call themselves Christian but condem gays. They never quote Jesus in doing so, only quote other parts of the bible out of context. In doing so, they are at odds with the words of Jesus, such as in Mt chs 7 and 22.
Time that Christ was put back into Christianity, if you ask me.

I can see you are a sincere seeker of Christs teachings. go to gospelofthenazirenes.c for the original New Testament before king Constantine misconstrued so many things. It tells the history of where the corruption began. The Gospel of the Nazirenes is the New Testament and original teachings of Jesus (Yesuah) which are now available in English.

The Bible has been translated so many times, it's near impossible by now to discern what Jesus really said and meant. The Church does seem to cater to people's wills these days.
