first two and a half months is a very long time for a dog to have diarrhea which could be taking nutrients away from her and cause dehydration. If you change her food often instead of sticking with just one that can wreak havoc on a dogs digestive system since they can't get used to a food another possibility may be worms you can try looking at her stool after she goes and see if theres any worms or is it possible the person you got her from never wormed her before you took her home? If she is a puppy around 8 weeks old when you got her most puppies are born with worms that are dormant that they get from the mother ( dam) so it could be as easy as deworming her or there could be a more serious problem which is a good thing you are taking her to the vet also if she hasn't had shots she needs her shots asap. As far as how to help the diarrahea making up white or brown rice for her and having her eat that has helped my dogs and maybe add some chicken broth to it. Good luck

You are doing the right thing having a vet help you. I agree with most of the other suggestions people have made. A good dog food is critical. The vet can get you special food that will help with digestive problems. It's expensive but well worth it. I do Sheltie Rescue and the last dog I fostered had diarrhea every time she got stresses and she was a fearful little thing that had come out of a puppy mill where they just kept her to breed her and had never let her out of a cage, so you can imagine how often she was stressed out. My vet had me give her a little Imodium, for her it was 1/2 teaspoon after every incident....... check with the vet about the dosage for your dog's weight. I also put a tablespoon of cottage cheese on her dry dog food at every feeding. I do this anyway regularly for my own Shelties and it really helps. Got that idea from my vet, too. Good luck!
ps that little foster dog was adopted and is in her forever home now. They've been using the cottage cheese and she has had no diarrhea, even with the stress of traveling, meeting her new 'sister' and adjusting to a new house.

German SHEPHERD with chronic DIARRHEA could be a number of things. In the meantime you could try adding fiber to her diet or giving two tablespoons of pepto (as long as there isn't blood in her diarrhea). Another over the counter med is Immodium (Loperamide) which you can give if there isn't a bacterial infection in the intestines.

If she has had it for that long, she would surely be dehydrated and sick.
Bepto Bismol can be given to a dog for this condition as a temporary relief.

Take a poop sample to your vet when you go... Make sure it is FRESH. Have them check for coccidia and giardia.
