I think your question should read more like;
Why do people come to this forum to talk down against other people's beliefs?
It's often been said that if people would look beyond their differences, they'd find they have much more in common than they think. Learning about other belief systems doesn't mean you have to take on any part of those beliefs or practices. But understanding why others feel they way they do about certain issues and topics can go a long way to understanding each other. In other words, if you can learn about your neighbor and what they belief, then you can find a common ground for communication and understanding.
I am not a Christian, I have nothing against Christians.

I can't speak for everyone, of course, but some people had a harsh Christian upbringing and therefore turned against it. I feel very sad for those people, however, because Jesus Christ is not harsh; he is the kindest, gentlest person I know. A pox on all those who mistreat their children (or anyone else for that matter!) in the name of Christianity! They're giving Jesus a bad rap. Worse, they're turning good people away from what very possibly could be the very best thing to ever happen to them! Long live true Christianity; down with counterfeits!

Perhaps you've confused discussion with talking down to Christianity? Now I do see areas where people actually do talk down to Christians, but I've noticed these are always in threads started by obnoxious users who talk down to non-Christians.
Frankly, I see it more as a case of giving you a taste of your own medicine. We don't like it when fundamentalist Christians come along to the Science and Mathematics forum, talking down to us about Evolution, despite them knowing aboslutely nothing about it. Yet they keep doing it.
That you realise that it's not nice is a good thing. Perhaps if you were one of those fundamentalist Christians, you'll stop doing it. If you aren't, perhaps you could convince some of your fellow Christians to knock it off.

Because it is an open forum for free speech. People just wish to express their own opinions about what they believe or dis-believe with others that have either similar or opposing thoughts.
That is the beauty of communication!
An open mind that learns & grows like a fair flower is far better than a closed mind, which is comparable to concrete....thoughly mixed up & permanently set.

Because Christians spend an awful lot of their time "talking down" against Buddhism, Islam, Wicca, and a slew of other beliefs. Christians also have this funny tendency of trying to ram their beliefs down the throats of others and also of acting like they have a monopoly on truth in the world. The insane attempt to have the Christian creation myth taught in America's classrooms are a prime example, but it extends into sexual morality and countless other aspects of society. This forum presents the downtrodden masses with an opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with America's power brokers, and I intend to spew forth my bile until I feel satisfied.

Since we know that angels sometimes take human form (Hebrews 13:2), I take it for granted that some of the more vitriolic anti-Christian attacks on here are the work of demons, or that of people under Satan's control. I think it's kind of encouraging to know that Satan sees Christians as that much of a threat.

Why does it bother you, most of it doesn't bother me. But you can see the attitudes of people and religion, religous leaders, religious followers have their hand in the ill feelings generated.
Perhaps this is God showing us what is being done that is wrong and how it affects people.
People here are right with the quotes, like Ghadi saying the Problme with Christainity is Christains.

bieng raised in the bible belt and living through experiences in mission work, i belive that people put down christianity because it makes you soft hearted because thats the way God intended it, and society belives that in order to survive you must be tough. well this is true but you can be tough and loving at the same time, something some people dont understand. So they categorize us as weak and make fun of us. Also It say's in the bible that bieng a christian is harder than bieng a normal person because the devil is constantly trying to break you down.

Simply put most of the people on this site are either atheists, agnostics, or Christians. This is of course no offense to any other religion of which I respect highly. It is human nature to want to reinforce your beliefs. No offense to atheists, but you want to be sure that this is no God, so you bash Christianity, so you will have more people on your side. This, however, also works vice versa. Christians also bash atheists to make them feel more right about their faith. Faith needs reassurance. People don't like to blindly believe they need evidence.

You have to understand that these nonChristians aren't firm in what they believe. They are jealous that we Christians actually have a set belief in a God who always provides. They vent their jealousy by insulting us. The irony of it is that when questioned about their beliefs they can't give a very good answer. A good comeback for a nonChristian is to calmly ask, when insulted, which Christian beliefs bother the insultor, why, and how they would implement those beliefs to fit their faith. That should shut them up.
