unlock your taskbar by right clicking on it and selecting "lock the taskbar" - when it's locked there will be a check mark beside it. when it's unlocked you can add icons to it. make sure you place the icons right next to the start button though, you can't just add them anywhere.

Agree with showandtell about unlocking the Taskbar.
If you have difficulty dragging an icon onto the Taskbar, try Alt+drag. Also, you can move the icons if you Alt-drag.
Suggest you create a shortcut to what it is you want and drag the shortcut icon there. Don't take a chance on accidentally deleting a program.

If you are trying to make a shortcut to the application in the task bar then try dragging it to the "Quick Launch" area

hi, ideal click on a sparkling area on the taskbar. From the popup menu go with Toolbars-> speedy launch. the speedy launch menu will seem on your taskbar. only drag the link out of your computer on to the speedy launch toolbar to operate your link. besides the undeniable fact that, if the link is on your computer only persist with a similar steps yet opt for Toolbars->computer. Your link will seem on the computer toolbar immediately. wish this permits.

go to your task bar right click on it try unlocking the task bar before you drop your icons in your task bar

Right click on the taskbar and selct properties and then customize the taskbar.
