And who isn't too large, and normally uses the bathroom all at once when you walk them outdoors w/out sniffing in 25-50 different corners to just dribble and save it for the next spot a foot away continuously?
and who would make a good travel companion on SHORT trips now and then (just for a couple of hrs)

Well basenjis don't bark, but you have some crazy expectations from a dog that you seem to want to come to you like this. Any dog could fit this if YOU put in the time and effort to train them. So research training and watch alot of Dog Whisperer and maybe watch other people's dogs to get an idea of what time commitment you are looking at. Then do some more research and look for a vet or adoption specialist to help you find a dog that you can work with.

It sounds like you have owned a non nuetered male before, based on the marking. Try getting a spayed female. Every dog has a different personality. Someone could tell you that a border terrier is the dog you are looking for, then when your puppy grows up you find out she's a barker. I think your best option is to go to your local animal shelters, look at all the dogs, find the medium sized adult spayed females and see how you like them. When you adopt an adult you already know how big they are, and what their personality is. They are often times already housebroken. Also ask the volunteers what they know about the dog. They work with the dogs everyday, so they do know the dog's personality. You can find pure breed dogs, and mixes. It doesn't really matter if you find one that you like. Check out petfinder.com to find animals in your area who are in need homes.

any dog can do all of that with the right training/consistancy. But it sounds like you dont know too much about dogs, so i would get an adult dog from a shelter that meets those criteria, or get some sort of Spaniel/Pointer that and take it to a company that trains dogs to hunt.... they usually end up pretty well behaved.

Well you might try a beagle, but you just have to look for a personality in the dog, not ALL dogs are loud you know.

BASENJI is the barkless dog. You won't have much trouble at all raising one, either.
