...such as speaking in tongues, baptism for the dead, the requirement for women to wear head coverings and to remain silent, the identification of the "sons of God" in Genesis 6, the necessity of poverty in order to follow Jesus (Luke 14:33), etc?

Doesn't the Holy Spirit reveal the true meaning of these passages to believers?

If so, why do sincere believers come to opposite conclusions on their own, and why aren't they able to come to agreement when they dialog with each other? Surely, Jesus is with them to guide them when two or three are gathered together in his name, isn't he, even if they misapprehended the Spirit's guidance when they were on their own?

Yes, the Holy Spirit reveals all. God teaches and guides and allows a person to grow as they can handle it. Quite frankly, some people either haven't asked for truth, denied that truth, or they are not ready for God to reveal His truth on a particular subject. What is important is not what we disagree on, it is what we agree on. Namely that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

I will give you the shortened version but we discuss these at church quite often. Speaking in tongues was used in Acts 2 so that the Jews from many different languages could all understand what was being said by the Apostles at Pentecost. It was not necessary for GOD to speak with anyone. When speaking in tongues the apostles were understood by all and as a result about 5,000 were baptized there. The Catholic Church came up with baptism for the dead. It is NOT found in the BIBLE and is not recognized by anyone that I would call a Christian. The women are to remain silent during Church Services and we do speak to that in Church. Our women are not participating in our services aside from being in the audience, singing, and partaking of the Lord's Supper. I am not familiar with the "sons of God" in Genesis 6, but we are to live under the New Testament as Christians NOT the Old Testament. The Old Testament is strictly "for our learning". We are not told that we are to live in poverty in order to follow Jesus (Luke 14:33). The RICH YOUNG MAN was known by Jesus and was told to sell his possessions because that was his weakness. Your weakness and my weakness may be something else. There is nowhere else that this is mentioned. We are told as husbands to work and support our families and to give as we have been prospered. This tells me that we are to be working and prospering. I think that you are looking for a good reason to come to church. GOD will be pleased. I am sure that there is a non-denominational Church in your area that would form a BIBLE STUDY with you. If you need assistance finding such a Church, let me know. Have a great week!!

Our church does not ignore any of the Bible's teachings. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. We are a full gospel Pentecostal church. This means that we believe and practice ALL of the teachings of the Word of God. We pray in the Spirit and in tongues. There are tongues and interpretations quite often, and there is no mistaking that these are words from God. It is NOT something for the past. We are directed by Jesus himself to seek the baptism of the Holy Ghost, which is evidenced outwardly by speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This one belief will be what seperates those that are found worthy from those that are not. Jesus said strait is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads unto life, and FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT. Few there be that believe that the Holy Ghost can fill you, and make you speak in tongues. Jesus spoke truth. Period. For yesterday, for today, for tomorrow. He never changes. You either believe Him, or you don't.

First off, some church's are run more as a business, than a house of God. Some Pastors are so afraid of losing members by speaking against the controversial things, such as abortion and homosexuality, that they avoid them all together. Do you think that God will bless such a church? I think not!!
Some Pastors are also afraid that if they preach too long, they may cause some members to miss the opening kick off of the sunday football game.
As far as christians agreeing on bible interpretation, let me explain it like this: We all come to Christ Jesus at different times and places in our lives. We also mature at different rates.
A spiritually immature christian may have a different understanding than a more mature christian does.
Christ also teaches us the things that He thinks we should know and when He thinks we should know them. He may have a verse of scripture He uses in my life and it has a specific meaning to me alone. He may also take that same verse and use it for someone else and it has a specific meaning to them.
God meets us all where we are at spiritually. One verse means one thing to me, and it means another thing to you.
Praise His Holy Name!!! God bless You...Good questions.....Peace

We have a diagram to live by Its the Ten Commandments and To except jesus as our Savior. This can`t be miss read. or miss understood. The Bible teaches that there are those who only go ankle deep in the water and then there are those who are knee deep and then there are those who are completely covered. This means that reading the word and understanding it comes from much study and with the help of the Holy Ghost. Some will never go any futher in learning or understanding then the one who wades ankle deep and so forth. But remember for those those who have more, more is exspected. That is why you have so many interpretations.of the word.

Some Churches just don't believe that speaking in tongues is for today, it is an old disagreement between denominations. As far as head coverings, that was a custom of that day, it is not for today. Christ never spoke of these things.

Because the church would lose each of these arguments. Have you not realized, religious empires have only one goal; to grow their empires.

They're hiding the bad bits, and preaching the "good" bits.
