Truthfully, depending on the level of infestation, you might have to hire a professional.

I own a pest control company and ticks are some of the hardest pests to deal with. Let me give you some tips to help you. First, trim up any plants on the outside of your home that are low to the ground. This is the prime areas for ticks to live and breed. Once you do this, you need to treat this area with a pesticide. What I recommend is Demon WP. Follow instructions carefully on this product!

Inside your home, you need to seal up all of your baseboards and treat all of the cracks and crevices around the floors in the areas that the pets frequent. (This is difficult if you don't have the proper equipment.) Some do-it-yourself pest control companies offer an aerosol product called Tri Die that comes with a straw that you can spray in the cracks. (You can also get this on e-bay.) Read and follow instructions on this carefully too!

Ticks feed on a host, drop off and climb to a high area to digest the blood. They then go into cracks and crevices where they lay their eggs. (This can also be behind pictures, posters, curtains, etc.) Controlling a tick infestation is not easy to do on your own. Good luck to you!

You should try Adams flea and tick products. Try your local veterinary clinic. They are a bit pricey but work wonders. They have carpet and upholstry spray, shampoo for your dogs, and a lot of other products. If your animals are really infested then ask your doc. what other flea and tick preventitives are available. Some people really like Frontline and others swear by Advantage or revolution. Every dog reacts different to each product which kind of sucks because there is no guarantee it will work. My dogs get Frontline and Heartgard with no problem. Another possibility is you are not applying the Frontline correctly. The product has to touch the skin in order for it to work. Part the hair in between shoulder blades and then apply,

If the dogs are on Frontline, what will happen is that the ticks will not get imbedded in the skin. The ticks can still get onto the dog's fur, they just won't attach. You will still have to pick the ticks off of the animals if they get them on their fur.

You have to use the frontline before it gets to be a problem, not after. We use frontline all the time and do not have a tick problem at all.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.
