Let me ask a counter question -
How was love made?
How was knowledge made?
Don't quantify God. It is not a man or a thing or a being. Anything that is made, gets destroyed. Therefore, by saying that God was 'made', we are implying that God will also be destroyed. No sense.
When nothing existed in the universe, there was just energy. That is God. They say that the energy vibrated in a manner similar to the sound 'Om', which is why that word has such significance. Eventually the energy started evolving into various forms - but the God is still the same - the energy - the same thing that separates a live man from the dead - that is God.

Dear Bryce,
If God can be made, then He is just like any of us or any other creations that exist. God is a Supreme Being, and being so logically means that He cannot possess our attributes (e.g. sleep, eat, was created from a mere combination of sperm and an egg, etc.) for He is Supreme. If we adhere to the premise that 'God is God', then we would not have questioned how He came to exist.
P/S: Of course, unless you are referring to a statue-god, then that's a different story.

He wasn't made he has always been here. Jesus was the first creation.
Colossians 1: 14 by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist, 18 and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he might become the one who is first in all things; 19 because [God] saw good for all fullness to dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile again to himself all [other] things by making peace through the blood [he shed] on the torture stake, no matter whether they are the things upon the earth or the things in the heavens.

We would have to be like God and have his perspective in order to comprehend that.
But think about this couplet...
As Man now is, God once was.
As God now is, Man may become.

God's always been in existence.
I know it's kind of hard for us to grasp...
But if we understood everything that God understands, He wouldn't really be a very powerful God, would He?

Mr. Bryce;
God was NOT made. He always was, always will be, and will always remain the same. He is immutable, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent. The Supreme Being.
I am quite surprised by your question. This information is common knowledge.

Which came first a conscious intelligent designer or indestructible matter and energy?
Did the cosmos have a beginning? We know it contracts and expands, thus regenerating itself. What's the use of a beginning?
