1)There's no set age,but you must be old enough to understand what baptism and a profession of faith actually means.
2)The word 'baptise' is taken from the Greek word 'baptizo' which means immersion. So,that's probably the most Scriptural.
3)Some churches will only accept baptisms if it was done in a certain denomination,ie the Roman Catholic Chruch.
4)Any Christian who is baptised can baptise another believer, but some churches think that the baptiser must be a minister.

Baptism is definitely a command of Jesus,
previously families of believers in the Old testament would circumsize their male infants... baptism is a little the same and a little different
I think Christians that emphasize the similarities between circumcision and baptism tend to baptize babies, usually pouring or sprinkling... some orthodox immersion baptize infants as a covenant baptism In this case baptism is like a covenant dedication of a child by believing parents. This is a little more focused on the community responsibilty to raise the child to becoem a Christian
I think Christians that emphasize the differences of circumcision and baptism tend to immersion baptize people once the believe, like a baptist might as a display of belief In this case baptism is like a confession to the world of belief and focused on the individual
I lean toward the second but can see how a person in good conscience might do either
A person does not become a chrstian at baptism and is not regenerated or saved then

When you reach an age that you are aware of & accountable for your sins...for different people it is different ages..to be immersed is a Biblical way of baptism as that is how John baptised the Lord Himself. (though water baptism is not an essential to be saved..it IS an outward sign to the world that you have made a decision to follow Christ) Yes, it does matter what Church in the sense that it should be a good bible believing church..& NOT one of the myriads of cults that exist today!
Ac 19:4 - Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
Ro 6:4 - We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Eph 4:5 - one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
1Pe 3:21 - and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
I would suggest that you seek out that Bible believing Church for yourself...& learn more as you draw closer to the Lord!
May you truly be blessed as you seek the Truth!

Yes it matters .
Immersion Romans 6:1,2,3,4
Colossians 2:12
Acts 8:35,36,37,38,39
Mark 16:15,16
Acts 2:38
Acts 22:16
Christ DIED for His Church. Yes it matters.
Christ said I will build MY Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
The Church of Christ is build on Jesus as the only foundation.
Only the New Testament Church of Christ does exactly what the word of God says and does not ADD TO NOR TAKE AWAY from God's teaching.
No man has any authority as far as OUR salvation is concerned.
God is the only AUTHORITY.
When a person reaches the age that they can truly understand what Jesus died for and feels that prick of conviction in their hearts they are ready to be baptized. Babies , small children do not have the maturity to understand the great sacrifice Christ made., they can not confess Christ before men.
Yes, it matters...The Church of Christ matters....The word of God matters... The TRUTH matters. Man-made "doctrines and so called churches" do not because they are not acceptable to God. And He Matters.

I was baptized in a baptist church as an adult. Baptism means the death burial and rebirth of ones old self.It doesn't matter what church you do this in it is done in front of others to show your faith.Babies are dedicated in most of other churches and baptism is for those old enough to speak why they are doing it it can be as young as 7 and as old as 100.

Baptism is a wonderful outward proclamation of our oneness with Christ. It is symbolic of our relationship to Him.
While Baptism is a wonderful thing, it is not necessary to be Baptized to enter the Kingdom of God. Look at the thief on the cross next to Jesus. This man was a career criminal who never went to church, never prayed, never gave to the poor and was never Baptised. This man did "Nothing" to deserve spending eternity in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus.
At this mans last few moments of life, he believed that Christ was who He said He was. He told Jesus "Remember me when you come into your Kingdom" Jesus saw his faith and said to him "Verily I say unto you, this day you will be with me in paradise" Jesus did not say Sorry dude, I cant help you, you need to be baptized. Quite contrary, Christ acknowledged this mans faith and said to him, It is enough, join me in paradise.
This is paraphrasing what Christ said, but the meaning is still the same. Baptism is an outward profession of our faith, just as circumcision was in the Old Testament.
Good question, God Bless You......Peace.

It should be by immersion. I don't think the minister needs the authority. I believe it is an individual's act of obediance to be baptised.

1 Peter 3
21 Whereunto baptism being of the like form, now saveth you also: not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the examination of a good conscience towards God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Baptism is a symbol. God knows the difference between symbols and the reality of your own feelings.

There are 2 baptisms:
one with water, performed by men (This baptism is your acknowledgment and belief of God before men); one with the Holy Spirit, performed by God (This is the baptism that saves; It is God's acknowledgment of you)
