It depends on a number of things, mosty, if the fuse is water resistant, what the composition of the powder is, and how the firecracker is constructed.

Usually, if a firecracker is lit and then dropped into water, it will go off; but if it's completely soaked in water, it won't go off when wet and probably not even if it's been dried.

Black powder has an oxidizer in it, so it doesn't need oxygen or air to burn. Most powder recipies contain at least one water soluble ingredient, however, so if the powder gets wet, it becomes useless.

Fuses can be just paper or cord which has been coated or filled with powder, or commonly the green "visco fuse" which is coated with laquer and is water resistant. Unless it has tears or kinks in it.

Now I probably shouldn't tell you this, but you can make firecrackers almost completely waterproof by dipping them in wax, etc., just like with matches.

I don't believe all firecrackers will explode in water. However, you can purchase special firecrackers just for exploding in water. My sons get a kick out of this for some reason. (Must be a guy thing) I think they're called hydro-crackers. If you visit a fireworks store that sells these items I am sure they would be happy to assist you. But please be careful & don't let small children ignite or play with explosives. They should only be used under responsible adult supervision. Explosives can cause serious injury!

No. Normal Black Cat or Thunderbomb firecrackers are not waterproof. They make firecrackers that are waterproof. They are usually called M-60 or similar and they have the diameter of a dime about an inch long with a thick green fuse. Those are waterproof.

Not if they are wet, but they can be dried out, but they have to be very dry. Many rocket fuels etc. are mixed wet, molded to shape then dried out.
