It's a stay between both. I currently attend publib school but if i were being homeschooled i couldnt be in the athena program. If i were homeschooled, ide get more individual attention most likely from someone i knew better than my teachers.

I get so mad when people think homeschoolers have no social life. Because if you want to have a social life, you can, no matter what school you go to. I'm a junior in high school and I've been homeschooled since second grade, and I wouldn't trade my experience for anything. I'm part of a group in Lexington KY for highschool homeschoolers. There are about 200 students in the group. We have parties and get togethers. We also have almost every type of sports team. And our soccer team is even third in the nation. We have a school trip every year, and we even have a prom. So really, I'm not missing any of the social aspect of highschool. Yea, I have a different social life, but I do have one. And also, you can get a much better education when you aren't in a class with 20 or more other kids in it. And this way you can learn how you think you learn the best, instead of how the government thinks you learn the best. Because the people who decide how you are going to be taught don't even know you, and have no clue what the best way for you to learn is. So, Homeschooling definitely is awsome...

I think it depends on the school and the child involved. The schools in my county have been rated "D"s and "F"s by our state, and our state does not have very good schools anyway (have been ranked 31 to 41st out of 50 in the past few years). So we don't have the best quality schools.

Additionally, my son and daughter have autism spectrum and dyslexia, and are also gifted. Any special needs, in my opinion, might make homeschooling an attractive option. I think public school is often aimed towards the average (100 IQ child). My son was really struggling and stressed out trying to stay in school in 1st grade (preschool and Kindergarten were less so). I was asked (by my son's K and 1st grade teachers) to tutor him in reading, handwriting, math, and then they asked me to preteach his language arts at the end of 1st grade. My son was crying and having stomach aches each day in 1st grade.

Homeschooling is much less stressful for my son. He is able to learn at just the right level for him, neither too difficult, nor too easy. He learns a lot of subjects that he finds interesting which also makes learning more fun as well.

However, if I lived in an area with quality schools, one of the states with the top 20 or so states in education, and had "A" quality schools and my son didn't have special needs to be considered, or if they actually had some meaningful special needs programs/treatments (which they don't have here) then public schools might be better. I would have to check out the schools and see. I would probably want to at least try them out.

Definitely Public School.
I Recently was put in homeschooling. I went to Public school up until 8th grade, and im in 10th now. To me Homeschooling is much harder. especially when your in a digital homeschooling academy because your be taught over the computer, and i have to be shown how to do things, like right in front of me. like one on one. Its so much harder than public school. I honestly couldnt tell you 1 thing i've learned in the past 2 years since i've been in homeschooling.
Which sucks!

This question is tougher than it seems. See if you care about your grades and everything then I would say home-schooled because it is easier for a person to concentrate when there are less people and less action going on around them, but it's also crucial to make friends and have fun and exercise so then I would say Public School. I would personally choose Home schooled because I could get better concentration and better grades but I would go out when I'm done and have fun instead of isolating myself from everyone else.

For the millionth time this month, neither is better. There are many, many pros AND cons to ALL forms of education. It is the parents' responsibility to weigh all the options and choose what works best for their own family. It's simple as that. Some prefer homeschooling, some prefer public.

My personal preference is for homeschooling, at least until high school. However, each person absolutely needs to decide this for themselves. I have met plenty of people who have no inclination to homeschool and who really, really shouldn't. Their families will be much better off with the kids in school.

I favour homeschooling because of the social environment (single-age groupings, attitudes, clothing, behaviour, sheer number of students in class...) at school, the academic structure of school, and for the simple reason that I would like to be the primary caregiver of my children for more than 5 years, since they won't be adults until 18. (Legal age here.) I'm a former elementary teacher and my dh is a junior high teacher. We know what it's like in the schools here and since we feel capable of providing a better environment to grow up in than what the schools could provide, we have decided to homeschool for as long as it works for all concerned.

Kids do NOT need to be around other kids the same age for 35 hours a week, they do not *need* to be in sports and much more. Humanity was doing quite well before kids were thrown together into schools for most of their waking hours.

Public school for me because I'm getting educated, I have friends, I play on my varsity sports team, and I have good grades, and I don't get bullied.
When I was home schooled my parents left me to educate myself (which didn't work), I didn't have any friends, and I was very lonely.

So for me public school is better, but hey I can't speak for everyone. It depends on the child and what they experience in home schooling and/or public/private school.
