I love cockatiels because they are so loving and have great personalities. My cockatiel is a peach. and that is her name too lol. She hangs out on my shoulder all day. and LOVES LOVES LOVES her scritches. She goes for the hard core scritches too. she wants a major face rub. she'll perch on my plate and eat whatever i'm eating for dinner. I can take her out in public and she wouldn't dream of leaving my shoulder. she loves to play!

It really does depend on yourself and the individual parrotlet, cockatiel, or quaker. Every parrot has a different personality. Quakers are illegal in some U.S. states so check out the regulations. All three parrots are amazing pets. I have been around parrots since I can remember. It really depends on a parrots personality. All of the parrots you listed can be AMAZING pets if you train them right. Tame them, if not already tamed, by sitting near their cage and talking softly. Then when you give them food and water, also talk in a soft and loving voice. After a while, try offering them a finger to pick them up. Put your finger by their feet and say 'step up' and see if they try to run away or bite. If they run, give them some space, don't rush them. If they bite, do NOT pull away your hand or make a sound like saying 'ouch' because the bird might use biting to get you to leave or get a certain reaction out of you. When they step up on command, reward them! Offer them a treat when they behave nicely. Soon you two will bond and you will have an amazing feathered friend. Do your research on each of these breeds!

Here are two sites which are message boards for parrot owners. They have SOOO much information about parrots and the members are very friendly in both sites.

Don't be afraid to sign up to! If you ever need future advice, and no offense to Yahoo! answers and users, but don't want answers from people who don't know what they are talking about...go to those sites. I use them both and I've learned a lot.

Good Luck finding a new buddy!

All can be endearing with proper diet, training and care. I prefer the quaker parrot because they are great talkers.Mine associates words with real meanings. Others love the parrotlets and the personalities of the cockatiel. most of these don't talk; some do. The choice is yours. Time and patience is the key to any bad behaviours one might find. There's no such thing as "better". Each individual bird will have it's own personality and so seeing one bird of each species won't tell you much at all. You might visit some breeders in your area who handfeed their chicks--- handfed birds usually make better pets. Pet stores don't usually have as much time to devote much individual attention to each bird, so they might be more skittish towards people ( though some fine feathered friends may come from there, too, if you're willing to work with them).
All the birds you mentioned are in the affordable range as far as parrot-style birds go. you might also want to consider some of the conures, too, like the nanday conure. About the same size as a quaker and with the same vocal strength, they are also fine (affordable!) parrots. Good luck with the bird search--- remember, though. Any bird you get can live a looong time (one of mine is 20 years old already), so be prepared for a long ( but rewarding) commitment.

I have cockatiels and parakeets. I think the tiels are awsome! Very friendly...not too loud, love attention and human interaction.Iv'e heard Quakers can be territorial and not too cuddly but I am sur that depends on the bird...and you!

quaker parrots are the cheapest parrot than can talk (well some parakeets speak a little, but a trained quaker parakeet can speak 200 words). They are very loving pets
