Why do people do good - charitable acts and etc ? I am wrong to say many of those acts are with ULTERIOR motives in seeking some form of benefit or blessings for one self ? Is that then really consider a good act ?

This is such a good point. So many people esp like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, go out and do all these great things and you bet there is always a camera or somebody watching.

Christians are taught to carry each other's hardships and help other in private just for this purpose. Helping someone in private and in some cases where the person being helped doesn't even know it's you is how I believe you learn how to love someone and develop the kind of heart that wants to give without recognition or expectations. That is the only benefit you should be concerned about.

I think most people don't do good acts with ulterior motives in mind. They really want to help others and it just so happens when we help others we benefit too.

Not me but He who lives in me....
I am a new creation (born again),walking in the light of truth, a son of God. If I want to do good it's because the spirit of God that lives in me led me to do it. The old me is still there but I don't give the old me any credit for doing good. I used to judge others motives until I prayed that I would only see the light of Jesus in them. About the blessings; when you get a blessing from helping others it's addictive.

All good works done apart from the Spirit of God are detestable to Him. Only the works we do by the leading of the Holy Spirit are acceptable to God. Gods Spirit in us, produces the good "Works" we seek to do. We do not boast of these "Works" rather, we give all praise and glory to God Almighty for producing these "Works" in us.God knows our heart and we cannot fool Him, He knows our every thought and intention, therefore, let God worry about it and let us all get our own lives right with Christ.
God Bless You....Peace.

Pure self interest. When I can be of help to someone else I feel cheerful. When I feel cheerful, I am doing my immune system a world of good.

I often wondered about that myself. Which I why I prayed to God to help me with this matter. He pointed out to me that I have empathy for my brothers and sisters and that my services to Charity are of noble reasons.
