Definitely only use secured sites...
Always keep a printout of the charges you've authorized, and keep these copies for a couple of years.
Check your bill carefully.
If they do make unauthorized charges, report it to the credit card company immediately. You won't have to pay it, and they will deduct the amount from the person or company that did it.

It is possible ! But millions of transaction take place every day !

Reserve one credit card only for that purpose. This way you can detect unauthorized charges easily.

Also make sure that you pay by credit card only on secured sites. They will show a lock at the bottom right hand corner.

Read the sites info on how they handle credit card info. Most sites use a provider( third person( like paypal) to handle all transactions through the site)
