My sons father wants to take him to New Zealand for at least a month. I dont agree as he is just one. Anyhow I found out that he can't get a passport in Australia without my permission. But was wondering if he is able to get my son a passport in New Zealand without my permission? Just helpful answers please.

your son is entitled to a new zealand passport because of his farther. Not quite sure if he needs your permission tho. If you really don't want your son to travel you could place a court order on him which would not allow you son to leave Australia with out your permission. In this case the AFP would attend at the airport and would not let you son travel unless he had your permission as well. Perhaps look at the new zealand immigration web site that might be able to answer you question. http://www.immigration.govt.nz

if your laws dont allow it, I dont think ours would either. we two countries are very close in laws.
my mother is Australian and can get her passport renewed here in NZ via the Aussie consulate, but not sure on first passports. dual citizenship may be a factor in him having any luck, but without your permission I dont think he could.

and is he mad? a one year old for a month, on a plane? hoping that he isnt planning on keeping him. stop him. if he doesnt want to live near his son, he can wait till your son is older.

I'm not 100% sure, but the baby might not need his own passport, he may be able to travel on either one of yours. Best advice - ring up customs and they'll be able to tell you.

This document states that the permission of only one parent is required as stated on the child's birth registration.
