it's true - you will have to spend some money to eat healthy ... but actually in the long run you will be saving money (no doctor bills for things like heart surgeries, ect...that would be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle)..just think of buying it now as an investment for the future!

Healthy food is not expensive. One of my favorite dishes is pinto beans with olive oil. Crusty bread and a glass of burgundy or a cold porter. The trick is not to have prepared foods in your pantry. Learn to cook. The chemicals in prepared foods is what drives the price up. Plus the greed of the manufacturers. And don't buy organic stuff. It's no better than the regular. Basically the organic thing is a big ripoff. Now they're starting to slap the organic label on everything and charge three times as much. I ain't paying it.

healthy food is more expensive becuz it usually requires growin and that meanins watering, becuz of the drought crisis water has become hard to pay 4 as rain isnt really helpin. lak of rain mens farmers hav 2 use water from the dams and they hav make up that money by increasin retail value. junk food on the other hand is processed or pre made and therefore costs less

I think it actually costs more for them to grow it, etc. because of the processing it goes through... but also, it's because people will pay the extra money. It's kind of like diet food. Throw "Fat Free!" on the label, and they up it a few bucks.

the world is running out out of food
I'm starving someone help me!
well anyway as you can see most foods now are a bunch of chemicals and rubbish put together to make it seems like food
or um food...
so these chemicals that they use are probably less expensive to use then making it fresh anyway

Why is Organic Food So Expensive?
Prices tend to be higher for organic than conventional products. As stated on the Web site of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN), certified organic products are generally more expensive than their conventional counterparts because:
The organic food supply is limited as compared to demand.
Production costs for organic foods are typically higher because of greater labor input and because farmers don't produce enough of a single product to lower the overall cost.
Post-harvest handling of relatively small quantities of organic foods results in higher costs because organic and conventional produce must be separated for processing and transportation.
Marketing and the distribution chain for organic products are relatively inefficient, and costs are higher because of relatively small volumes.
The FAO also notes that prices of organic food include not only the cost of the food production itself, but also a range of other factors that are not captured in the price of conventional food, such as:
Environmental enhancement and protection (and avoidance of future expenses to mitigate pollution)
Higher standards for animal welfare
Avoidance of health risks to farmers due to inappropriate handling of pesticides (and avoidance of future medical expenses)
Rural development by generating additional farm employment and assuring a fair and sufficient income to producers
The FAO believes that as the demand for organic food and products increases, technological innovations and economies of scale should reduce costs of production, processing, distribution and marketing for organic produce.

because processed food lasts almost forever while back to basics healthy food has to be moved from field to table quicky in order to maintain it's freshness which calls for refrigerated trucks etc
