I'm curious, I actually plan on getting 2 very young puppies, one a yorkie and the other a schipperke. Now, will these 2 butt heads or are they very much compatible, I don't plan on breeding them.

If anyone can give me or point me in the right direction of where I can get some answers I'd appreciate it, thanks!

I had a yorkie who was with pomeranians and they got along great, later I go a miniture pincher and he got along fine with him too.

Yorkies are loving and can be hyper but schipperkes can be hyper as well. If you get them around the same age and bring them together they should get along fine. Sometimes you have trouble when one animal is the only one in the home for a long time, sometimes they do not want to accept another in their territory.

Good Luck. Both dogs are a good choice!

Yorkies are going to wind up smaller than Schipperkes, so I'd be careful when they play together. You might be better off getting a Yorkie puppy that's a bit older, and a younger Schipperke, so the Yorkie will have a bit of size advantage. I've owned a Schipperke before, and while they are small dogs (biggest are 15 pounds) they act like bigger dogs. They need a surprising amount of exercise for a small dog, but since they are so small, even a small yard will be big enough. I've never owned a Yorkie, but they are beautiful little dogs. They tend to be a lot more delicate than Schipperkes, so just keep that in mind when they interact with each other. I'd get a male and a female, since opposite sex pairings work better. If raised from a young age, almost any breed of similar sized opposite sex dogs can get along. Both dogs have busy terrier-like personalities, so they might have occasional spats, but overall should get along well. Of course, every dog is an individual, so be prepared for personality variances. Some dogs just don't get along well with others. Your best bet would be to talk with both a Yorkie and Schipperke breeder and get their opinions. Remember, don't buy from pet stores, especially small breed dogs. Pet stores buy their dogs from mass breeding establishments called "puppy mills". They don't care about the health or temperament of the dogs, and puppy mill puppies tend to be fraught with health and behavior issues.
Hope this helps...

Schipperke's aren't the loving, cuddly dogs people think they are.

I would suggest two Yorkies...

Schipperke's can be nasty, ill tempered and mean. They're stubborn and hard to house train too.

Schnauzers are GREAT and they get along with other dogs nicely.
