I have a Garmin GPS and left the batteries in for a few years and there isn't that much leakage and the batteries are removed. I would like to use it or resell it, what should I do to clean the contact points so it doesn't blow up on me?

You can clean battery terminals by pouring some Coke (Coca-Cola) on them. It will bubble up then rinse them off. When they are clean, spread on a thin layer of petroleum jelly. It will help keep them from corroding again.
