Does this mean that churches who don't welcome gay people who come to worship with them are committing the sin of Sodom?

That was the "sin" of Sodom, you're right... and yes, I think that would make those churches just as inhospitable and guilty of the same "sin".

Well maybe it is talking about the treatment the three angles received when they went to see Lot. I think it could be considered a bit discourteous to try to gang rape messengers of The Most High!
Either way, would that even make homosexuality any better IF Sodom were judged so harshly for not being friendly to new comers? I don't think so.

First of all one must understand the meaning of "the church". It is the saved and believers in Christ Jesus not a building. Also homosexuality is a sin just like gossiping ,telling little white lies, taking the Lords name in vain etc. Remember God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that WHO so ever would believe on him would not perish but be saved. God loves the person as we should but God hates sin period..Enough about ALL of this homosexual garbage and call it what it is. Even a person shacking up is not a true member of the church. Read Pauls letters to the churches about this.Yes shunning is in order but people today cannot handle the truth. They want it sugar coated. The only prayer a sinner can pray is one of repentance. WAKE up the time draweth nigh for the Lord to return. Are you ready??

Sodom & Gomorrah & the surrounding cities performed many grievous sins...but the Bible clearly shows that the Lord hates the sin of homosexuality & it's perversion. People that have repented of their sins are the ones that are always welcome to worship before the Lord God Almighty....those that continue on in their sins....well...God says: 1Corinthians 6:9-11
9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Here is what the Bible says about some of the sins of those wicked cities & their final destiny......

Ge 13:13 - Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord.

Ge 18:20 - Then the Lord said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous

Genesis 19:4-11 4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."

Isa 3:9 - The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

Jer 23:14 - And among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen something horrible: They commit adultery and live a lie. They strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from his wickedness. They are all like Sodom to me; the people of Jerusalem are like Gomorrah."

Eze 16:49 -"'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.

Jude 1:7 -In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

Ezekiel 16:49-50: Now this was the sin of Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

Why are you so worried about gays in church? My church would welcome any gay person, but I guarantee you that they would not want to be there long. The first time that the pastor laid hands on them and started praying in tongues and in the Spirit, the gays would either repent or leave of their own accord. I do not know of too many gays that wish to attend a full gospel Pentecostal church. The presence of the Holy Ghost alone would make them uncomfortable enough to repent and be born again, or leave. The Holy Ghost is a good cure for homosexuality. As Christians, we are told as follows in the book of Ephesians, ch.5 verses 5 -12 : For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these thingscometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth); Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
If you do not understand what that means, here goes - homosexuals live in darkness, They live in sin, and delight in unrighteousness. We are to reprove them, or let them know how wrong they are in doing what they are doing, but to have no fellowship with them. So, if they are not coming to church to repent, then they have no business in the house of God. Period. You don't like it? Take it up with God on judgement day. Maybe you can get all of the words out of your mouth before you are cast into the lake of fire. To suggest that the churches would be guilty of the same sin as those of Sodom by not allowing gays in the church shows that as the scriptures tell us - you wrest the scriptures to your damnation.

Do you really think that if that had been all they were doing they would have been destroyed in the way they were?Do you know what the word sodomize means?I suggest you look it up because it's derived from the favorite pastime of the sodomites.

The reason you have heard this is because there are lots of people who deny the truth of the scriptures, that homosexuality is an abomonation to God and Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed for its sexual perversion.

Gay people are welcome in any church. The word of God is taught there, and they will hear it. God's word transforms sinners. And we all are sinners, in one way or another.

no... in fact one of the major sins of Sodom was homosexuality... a church should never reject anyone but you must understand there is a difference between accepting someone versus accepting their sin... it is wrong for a church to condone that behaviour... once they witness to someone like that, if they lead them to the Lord those who are committing that sin must realize that in order to truly enter the kingdom of God they must repent and turn from that sin... any "gay" person who comes to worship the Lord can never truly enter the presence of God until that sin is out of their lives... we should love those people and we should witness to them but we cannot allow their sin to be brought into the house of God, or we are only defiling God's temple and place of worship...

Rape is a very discourteous act.
If you get raped in church, they are definitely committing the sin of Sodom!!

By all means, welcome any and all sinners to come to church!! The Lord certainly ate with sinners and prostitutes, etc.
Of course, as I understand it, the prostitute stopped being a prostitute, the tax collector gave back the money he'd stolen, etc...
In other words, I believe it is fair to expect an encounter with the Lord to change a person's attitude toward their sin...
That is what repentance is all about...isn't it??
