A friend (from Columbia) of mine got married to an american guy, legit marriage, he did drugs and drank and got arrested for drug possession and left his Columbian wife. Abanded her, she had to find a new place to live and she then filed for divorce. He later called her and in his drunken phone calls and said he was going to call immigration on her to get her deported (because she didn't want anything from him anymore.. didn't want to talk to him because he abanded her) and claim that she paid him for a fake marraige. All he has is his word. My friend had a legit marraige but is afraid that Immigration will deport her based just on his claims. Obviously, because it was a legit marriage, he has no evidence to base his claims. My friend is worried that immigration will believe his false claims and she will be deported. Does she have something to worry about? Also, I plan on marrying her because we fell in love. What will imm think. should we be worried imm wont believe our love

Immigration will not believe somebody if they do not have documentation. If your friend has documentation that the claims are false, she has nothing to worry about at all, unless she is not legal, in which case she would have cause for worry. If she's a legal immigrant and has documentation that he did what you said he did, the guy is the one who should worry, especially if he testifies in court that the marriage was not legit. then he's guilty of perjury at least.

The days of the threat of deportation are over he can't just say whatever he wants and the police will accommodate him. She needs to contact legal aide find an affordable lawyer let the lawyer examine all the paperwork involved they can tell her what her position is better than we can. He sounds just like a drunk making a lot of empty threats. He most likely wakes up the next day not remembering haft of what he said or did.

1) his credibility does not hold up very well in court
2) his word against her--once again his credibilty
3) I would myself go ask at the local records office for a copy of the marriage certificate
then I would go find out from a Hispanic lawyer what her chances are and what can be done for her. They see this sort of thing all of the time so they should be able to help her.
Good luck and best of luck

She needs to find an immigration lawyer and state her case legally if she doesn't want to return to South America.

Dont know about the US. But in UK you can lie all you want. Its not illegal to lie. I told a Colombian bird that I would pay her 50k for a porno shoot. She got deported before the cheque cleared and I made 20k from vids. Kool.

thats a really difficult question, maybe you'll need to go to the immigration to "battle" it out, may need to go to court as well.

If he says he married her to bring her here, he would go to jail and they would look closly into her staying. Marry her if you truly love her right away.
