She was a stray about 18 months ago. We took her in and she's not fixed. She has had 3 heats since we took her in. She has the most wonderful personality and I love her more than any other dog I've ever had. She has no access to male dogs since she is always in the house. I'm afraid that she'll die under the anesthetic. Is it worth having her fixed with a possibility of dying or having her stay intact and worry about the cancer she may get? I'm in a quandry. I want to do what's best for her so that she can live a happy and long life. Thanks for any advice.

My healthcare professional would not the two. we are maximum effective a pound over what it says we sould be. i don't assume it is somewhat obese sufficient so as which you will worry approximately. each physique is made up in any different case. i'm very muscular and massive shouldered as is my Grandmother. It particularly will rely on your BMI. besides the undeniable fact that while you're attempting to lose a pound a week, running or maybe strolling will ought to do the trick. Even strolling or working as quickly as an afternoon ought that can assist you you. it is fairly reliable to lose a pound a week. i would not try for any added weight a week. while you're thoroughly happy with your self the perfect way you would be, it would not particularly undertaking who says what approximately it. i'm completely happy the perfect way i'm.

A competent veterinarian should be able to spay your pet with little side effects. There is always a risk to anesthesia regardless of age or condition of pet. The risks of waiting are many. Cancer is low on teh risk, but an infection of the uterus called a pyometra is a very real concern for unspayed female dogs. Spay you chi!

Both my female chihuahuas are under 8 pounds and both sailed right through the procedure. Have the vet do a blood test before the surgery to make sure that everything is functioning normally. That little angel is lucky to have found such a good, caring home!

Spaying her is a healthy option if you are not going to breed her, it helps prevent certain kinds of cancer. My niece has a chi and she had him neutered at 6 months old and he did fine.. I'm sure your vet will take the best care possible so nothing happens to her.

I raise chihuahuas. I had a 3 lb chi that I was so scared to have her spayed for the same reason and waited until she was 3 yr old to have it done. She sailed thru it. No problems whatsoever. I know a couple of people who had their chis spayed when they were like 2 1/2 lb. I recommend that you have it done.

Your chi should be fine. Spaying is very routine and if you are really worried you can ask your vet to do pre-anesthetic blood work. The clinic I work for has had many young chis come in and they do fine. Yours should do just the same. :)

I'm sure a qualified vet would take good care of her if you decide to spay her. The vet would determine the amount of anesthetic to use based upon her weight. Its better to spay than get cancer. where she would really need surgery.

There is always a risk for anyone or anything that's going under anesthesia. That said, I think you should have her spayed. Her risk is no greater than any other animal's. Have you talked with your vet about this? He/she is probably more qualified than anyone here, especially since he/she would be performing the surgery.

there will be no problem with having her fix and she will do better to be fix then run the chance of being bred by a large dog and the health wise is better to be fix. and l have a chihuahua and she is very friendly also. she does not even bark a lot and she is good around children. so l say you are lucky in deed and from the sound of it so is she. good luck

It should be perfectly safe. My chihuahua has had it done. She came through it perfectly fine. (she may have been a little mad at me for leaving her in a strange place overnight, but otherwise fine, lol)
Just take her to the vet and ask their opinion, but it should be fine.
