Well, the advantages of becoming a mother for me are:

Reading nursery rhymes and fairy tales every night to my little one.
Watching her eyes light up whenever she smiles.
Sharing cookies, ice cream, and just about everything on my plate with her.
Knowing that a little person could love me more than anything else in their little world.
Of course, seeing the first step, first tooth, first day at nursery school etc.
Discovering as my child grows that she is the spitting image of her darling father.
Being able to put the working world as well as busier pace of life behind to enjoy every fleeting moment with my little girl.
Having a legacy and knowing that I have carried her into the world and shared my wisdom and knowledge with her to pass on to her own children someday.

There are always disadvantages to becoming a parent. In fact with the blessing of a child requires a lot of responsibilities. Not just lack of sleep or a few trips to the emergency room... It reflects our pocket books, keeps us (mom and dad) from enjoying nights out together, restricts mom from being able to take long baths and limits trips to the beauty salon. Not because she is letting herself go but because she can do her own hair and why not cut corners when the extra funds can be used for a much admired new toy or dress. It's a selfless kind of love to have a child but it is the most rewarding and priceless time of life. Yes there are days when I feel sad and even disappointed but when I see that little face I know that I have accomplished the greatest work.

The advantages....thats a hard one to explain. Before having kids i knew i wanted them, just didn't really know why. Once i became a mother i knew it was the best thing i could ever do. Very rewarding in so many ways, fun....ive laughed everyday since becoming a mommy, although there are days i think ive pulled so much hair out i have bald spots!! haha. Its a hard thing to explain. The disadvantages i suppose could be, not being able to go out anytime you please, lack of sleep, sometimes i doubt myself like when one of my children act up i wonder if i handled their discipline correctly, am i teaching them enough, do i give enough hugs.....i think every parent has doubts here and there. I will say being a parent is one of the hardest jobs, but it is definitly the best if you are ready for it. My kids are such a joy. I have twins who are 2 1/2 years old and im expecting my last, a 3rd boy due in March :-)

Disadvantages, lack of sleep, Lack of order in the household. Not begin able to do everything I WANT to do. The terrible twos, the teen years.

Advantages...kisses, hugs, "I love you mommie" the very best in artwork, the most melodious singing voice on the planet and the very best sense of humor (knock knock/who's there? Mickey Mouse's underwear), relearing the wonders of the world around us. Being awestruck watching an caterpillar move along a treebranch. First steps, first words, first foray beyond home alone. Watching them grow and knowing that you got to help create and mold that young person who now sits on City Council with the next youngest member being 20 years her senior and knowing that all of the members wanted her to sit on that vacated seat....Yes Pride is a sin but what a way to sin...
