...absolutely does not like Phillippe Starck's furniture and thinks it's totally overrated?

Just wondering. I'm feeling that way. I think he just tries too hard and it looks sterile.

I had to look as well its AWFUL I have seen better stuff at thrifts than that .I guess he feels that furniture should not be sat on and should be minimalistic.I would hate living in a house with furniture like that. I can handle modern I can handle 60 style.this style has no rhyme or reason.

Firstly, i confess that I'm no furniture designer, and I don't know what the term "sterile" means in furniture designs... but i do like his designs, they look great (most of them)... but that's where it ended for me.

The designs do looked nice at first sight, but the simple yet distinctive works would look boring after a while, even sickening if you own them and stare at it everyday.

I have to admit I had to look his designs up before I could answer. I do agree his designs look sterile.

I like modern contemporary design but there is something about his style I just don't like.

no, you're not alone...obviously from your answers...and i feel the same way...if i want the modern look i will look at something Eams-y.
