Froggie is mostly right ... POSTMARKED by Jan. 31st for most companies ... mailing time is irrelevant. If it's delayed by the mail there is nothing you can do about it.

EXCEPTION: The Federal Government has until February 28th to POSTMARK documents (funny how that allow themselves an exception) ... so if you work for the Federal government you might not get them until March.

W2s must be given out by January 31st

If you don't have it by the end of the first week of February, call the IRS.

A company must have your w2 to you by Jan. 31st. If you don't receive it by then call the IRS and have them gently encourage the company to send it.

They have to be post marked by January 31.
