Hi Louann... Any human medications can be very lethal to cats. Cats metabolize both differently than humans and dogs. Therefore, it is best to have your cats seen and evaluated by a veterinarian to determine which medications will be beneficial for arthritic cats. Prescribed medication dosage is based on age, weight and overall health. Self administering any human medications is unwise and very dangerous especially to senior cats who's liver and kidneys are already compromised as well as very fragile.

Tylenol is toxic to cats. It may be ok to give aspirin but you need to talk with your vet about this. Cats don't metabolize things the same way people, or even dogs, do. There really aren't many pain relief/anti-inflammatory products that are approved for cats. Metacam has been used as an off-label pain reliever for cats. That may be something you might want to consider. Of course, your vet may have other options.
At any rate, don't give your cat anything without first consulting a veterinarian.

1/2 Children's aspirin was once prescribed for my cat... but that was when he was 2 years old. Your kitties are 14 and 15 - best not to self-medicate them or otherwise thake risks with their health. If they have joint pain, keep them in a warm room with no drafts. If you have a heating pad, make a sort of comfy bed for them with theheating pad under a towel or blanket. But turn the pad off after 10 mins. for safety. Or, you can fil a couple of soad bottles with hot water and close the lids real tight. Put them under a balnket and let your cats lie down on that. But if the joint pain is really bad, see a vet.

Call your vet!!!Tylenol is VERY toxic to both dogs and cats. Plain aspirin can be given in very small quantities, but some cats can have adverse reactions. Your vet has pain medications formulated for animals that are much safer and more effective. You can also talk to your vet about glucosamine supplements. One type is Cosequin for cats...it will build the synovial fluid in the joint and give them some relief.

many pain medications will make a feline hemmorage internally and die a very devastating slow death. Tylenol 'acetominiphen' is one I know of that will do this for sure. Penicillian will make a cat deaf also. Cats are VERY VERY sensitive to medications, don't even think about giving a feline anything without consulting a vet first.

NO NO NO. Do not give your cat any medication before talking to your vet. There are so many medications that are safe for humans, but KILL cats. I KNOW tylenol is one of them. Ask your vet what medications are safe to give your kitty, or if they can give you anything that can help with pain.

Never ever give an animal any kind of medication which was meant for humans. Many can cause death, convulsions, paralysis and a host of other ailments. Their bodies are not like a humans and shouldn't be treated as a human

I would avoid giving a feline any meds made for humans. There are medications that your vet can prescribe for your pets to help with the pain
