Chickens routinely lay eggs whether fertilized or not. The eggs are fertilized internally. Not much chicken foreplay though, besides pecking the ground.

After a hen has sex with a rooster, she lays fertilized eggs. If she doesn't she'll lay unfertilized eggs. You know the kind you buy in the store, those aren't generally fertilized, so they could never become a chick.

How does the first guy think the rooster gets through the shell? That would be one BAD rooster. The rooster tops the hen and then she lays a egg. Just like every thing else!

They're fertilized before they're laid. The rooster does his thing and the eggs get fertilized before they come out.
