YES!

What Happens to Your Body When You Get Alcohol Poisoning?

Alcohol depresses nerves that control involuntary actions such as breathing and the gag reflex (which prevents choking). A fatal dose of alcohol will eventually stop these functions.

It is common for someone who drank excessive alcohol to vomit since alcohol is an irritant to the stomach. There is then the danger of choking on vomit, which could cause death by asphyxiation in a person who is not conscious because of intoxication.

You should also know that a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) can continue to rise even while he or she is passed out. Even after a person stops drinking, alcohol in the stomach and intestine continues to enter the bloodstream and circulate throughout the body. It is dangerous to assume the person will be fine by sleeping it off.

Critical Signs for Alcohol Poisoning
Mental confusion, stupor, coma, or person cannot be roused.
Vomiting.
Seizures.
Slow breathing (fewer than eight breaths per minute).
Irregular breathing (10 seconds or more between breaths).
Hypothermia (low body temperature), bluish skin color, paleness.

Be aware that a person who has passed out may die.

What Can Happen to Someone With Alcohol Poisoning That Goes Untreated?

Victim chokes on his or her own vomit.
Breathing slows, becomes irregular, or stops.
Heart beats irregularly or stops.
Hypothermia (low body temperature).
Hypoglycemia (too little blood sugar) leads to seizures.
Untreated severe dehydration from vomiting can cause seizures, permanent brain damage, or death.

Even if the victim lives, an alcohol overdose can lead to irreversible brain damage. Rapid binge drinking (which often happens on a bet or a dare) is especially dangerous because the victim can ingest a fatal dose before becoming unconscious.

YES! My younger sister was 16 and drank a partial bottle of Tequila. She was taken to the ER when noone could wake her up. She had her stomache pumped and remained unconcious for several days. She barely made it. First of all, a 12 year old shouldn't be drinking. At that age, your liver is till developing and drinking is far more dangerous while your body is developing. So, its worse to drink when you are young rather than when you are older. Second, if you or anyone you know drinks this much, you MUST take them to the ER right away. It is not something that can be slept off, a cold shower doesn't help, coffee won't help. I hope whomever is thinking or has done this gets help because it is so dangerous!

Yes, provided he/she doesn't vomit up most of it, meaning keep it down long enough to actually absorb enough alcohol to cause unconsciousness. 12 year olds are not exactly good at being able to drink liquor(combat the taste and hold it down) I would be surprised to find a 12 year old that would be able to accomplish it, much less one stupid enough to.
The real threat from alcohol poisoning is asphyxiating on vomit while unconscious. And a 21 year old would die from consuming an entire bottle of Bacardi (70 proof or more) for that matter.
I can drink allot but that's just asking for trouble, I'd never even attempt it.

Of course you will. don' you ever watch the news or read the paper? There are stories in there every day of another person dying from drinking expired bacardi breezers. You would think there would be some kind of government intervention to help prevent such atrocities from happening. Makes you wonder how the junkies in the park don't die from drink crap they find in the dumpster....a great mystery.

I almost died by drinking a full litre of 40% alcohol in 5 minutes, and I was 18. I would say a litre size bottle would DEFINITELY kill a 12 year old!

That must be some sick kind of project you're working on. I hope it's not an "independent study"!

Body weight and the length of time in the "one sitting" have a lot to do with it, but basically the answer is yes. At the very least, the 12 year old will have a hangover that will make them wish they were dead. It's not worth it.

Anyone can die from drinking a bottle of bacardi in one sitting. Age isn't a factor here.

Alcohol poisoning and coma are a very probable side effect. They can die from being unconscious and vomiting. If the person is laying in a bed passed out they can choke on their vomit and die.

Edit: You have asked this question twice? Why? I hope you are not considering it as a form for suicide. If you are please seek some help from school councilors, Church, parents, or an anonymous help line.

Why would u even let a 12 year old drink? You should probably be put behind bars and if it's your child, they should be taken away from you because evidently your a horrible parent.

An adult can die from drinking a whole bottle of any spirit based alcohol. So DON'T do it.
