The idea that people believe that it hadn't rained before the flood makes christianity exponentially more unbelievable.

Haha, "it never rained before that." You don't need rain to make rainbows, I saw them all the time in the mist over Niagara Falls! What, there was never any mist before the Flood, and the sun never shined through it? The Noah story never happened, it's a just-so tale invented by primitive goat-ropers to try and explain where rainbows came from, like an Aesop's Fable explaining how the elephant got its trunk.

Yes: according to the Bible, God made the rainbow a sign of the covenant with His people that the earth would never flood again. So it already existed, He just gave it a new meaning.

Not seen in the sky, which really isn't that unlikely since the population of the world was relatively small, and good conditions for one are rare in most parts of the world.
There may have been the pattern of colors refracted before that such as in a waterfall like at Niagara Falls, but it simply had not been seen in the clouds by human eyes before that.

No,the rainbow was created as a symbol of the promise God gave to man that He would never again destroy the earth by flood.
That's what I've been taught.

Genesis 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

Yes.
Unless the laws of physics were completely rewritten to accomodate the refraction of light.
But it is a moot question, there was no great flood.
Addition: I live in Hawaii, the Rainbow State. You don't need rain to see rainbows, just water vapor in the air: mist, fog, water fountains, etc.

lover, have you ever seen England, it rains for like 6 month periods... :-P
To answer the question, the laws of physics haven't changed anytime lately so I would say yes there were rainbows when it rained before that.
