Whats the deal with MLK day? Didnt he like start a war that killed 3/4 of Europe and threw an inkwell at Satan? And whats the deal with marring a nun and nailing letters on a church door?

Very funny. Ahem....you are confusing Martin Luther from Germany with Martin Luther King Jr. from Alabama.

MLK is the Reverend Martin Luther King. He was a powerful and respected civil rights leader. He led American society to make some positive changes in the treatment of black people.

Doctor King "gets" his own national holiday because he was a very important historical figure who brought our country much closer to the ideals laid out in our Constitution. He knew that what he was doing was dangerous and he ultimately gave his life to bring the promise of this great nation closer to reality. Someone has already taken on the "peanut butter" question, so I will take on the question of why whites don't get one month set aside specifically for our history. It's because we already have the other eleven.
