cockateils are wonderful companions not only can they learn a few words of speech but are great whistlers and love people and their attention but do try and have a large cage so they have plenty of room to flap their wings and stretch be sure to clean their cage daily and give them plenty of fresh water males are better talkers than the females but both can learn with a little persistence from you short words and many repetitions are necessary they love fresh fruit and sprouted bird seed good luck with your birds

Lifespan : 15-20 years (Longer If Taken Good Care Of)

Diet : Commercial pellets, seed, sprouts, veggies

Size : 12 inches

Temperament : Easygoing. Great for first time bird
owners as well as young children. Males are more
vocal than females. Females can be vocal at times
and love to cuddle. They both make excellent pets for the
young, old and working families. Females would
make a better choice for apartments that allow birds.

Talking ability: Very Good

As with all birds, whether your bird talks is up to the bird
as an individual. As with all birds, whether your bird learns
to talk is up to the bird as an individual. Training a bird.

#1 just like with any other bird, you need to be ready to give it the time it needs.

#2 birds can be messy, and they poop. If you cant handle that it's not for you.

#3 you should know not every tiel will talk if you are getting it for that then don't get it chances that it will talk with tiels are slim..

#4 Get a hand fed one from a breeder that can tell you alot about them and has the time to answer your questions, even if you call ten times.

Join this group on yahoo. alot of great cockatiel people on there that can give you good advice.

i have two and they're just about the sweetest things in the world. careful though, they have a reputation of being 'chewers'. it's not so bad though.
