There are different types of love - love for your significant other/spouse, love for your children, parents, friends, God and so on. Regardless of the types of love there are common threads - the way you feel when you are with the individual - peaceful, happy, comfortable, safe, an openness that allows you to be who you really are ... there is a happy anticipation at the thought of being with the person. You know in your heart you would do anything for this person - help them, support and comfort them, nuture them - sacrifice no longer seems like a sacrifice it is second nature - you want the best for the person and are willing to give the best of your self. Love probably means different things to different people but it should never be taken for granted - cherish it always.

Real love oh man its when you are with the person you love and you forget everything all the stress, all your problems, just everything. Real love is when you can talk to that person and never get bored or run out of things to say. It's when you feel like you can live with her forever and cant live without her. It's a feeling that the world can burn down as long as you are with her. If this is how you feel then you are in love and love is a great thing.

It is NOT, I'm gonna write it again, NOT to be confused with LUST!!!

Love is a long-term commitment with someone. It should be like a chain between two hearts (souls). Hard to break - but can withstand any hardship that comes up.

Lust, on the other hand, is a temporary one-night-stand. It has no commitment - just a fleshly desire. It falls to shreds instantly - and is blasted to ashes when hardships arise. (Usually lust is the cause of the hardship.)

Here are some ways of looking at love:
(1) To love someone is to care about someone, to want that person to be happy, especially to put someone else before yourself
(2) To love is to understand.
(3) Immature love says "I love you because I need you."
Mature love says "I need you because I love you."
In other words, you like someone "because," but
you love someone "although."
(4) In the Bible, to love your neighbor means to care for that person's soul, regardless whether you like or detest someone
(5) Love is the force, the reason for the world and what keeps it going. It is the driving force behind all life.

Love is when you will do anything for someone who is close to you. For example when I hurt my back my husband took care of me. He took me to the bathroom and let me balance on him because I couldn't sit down all the way and he cooked me breakfast lunch and dinner. (It may not have been the best but the effort and love he put into it made it tolerable). He sttod with me in the shower and dried me off and dressed me. To me that is love.

When you can accept the person the way they are. Don't expect perfection because there is no such thing as perfection. Unconditional love no matter what happens and what they do.

Love is the total and complete acceptance of your lover. Thier wants, needs, quirks, dislikes, dreams, baggage, vices, butt size,insecurities,style,speech,habits,etc...etc... and if you can't hang the LOVE for them is hung. Deleted was but size.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
