My cat died last night. My parents found the body cat next to our house. The cat is very possibly our cat. Cause our cat hasn't return home today night. We are betting that the cat we found was our cat who was ran over by a car. But my dad says that the cat they buried was a slightly different color, and didn't look exactly like our cat. Could it be possible that this is another cat? But its too coincidence to not be my cat. Cause my cat isn't coming back.

I was wondering if it is possible that the pound visited my town and caught some loose pets. Do pounds visit towns sometimes?

my cat has been going out alot recently, But it usually comes back in a few hours. She has been going out for longer, but i fear the worst. The body of the cat we found was similar in size to my cat, but my dad says the color seems mayb different. But it could just because the cat was so beat up by the car.

Ouch.. I feel sorry for you man. It's hard, I know, cause I too have a pet that was run overed by a car. A hit and run case. Couldn't do much for it, but at least we still recognize it.. Was it really that bad until you couldn't even recognize it? perhaps that wasn't your cat, maybe it got disoreintated or lost or got stucked somewhere.. Do you know its haunts? Cats usually have one or two places where they frequent regularly.. I once kept a German Shepard that got disorientated.. It's original house was only 2 blocks away.. and it still got lost.. Talk about great sense of direction... It's not that unusual for a cat to disappear for days at a time, does your house have a kitty door? If so, maybe it slipped in quitely while all of you were asleep and slipped out again before any of you woke up? My uncle's cat always does that, but the problem is he doesn't have a kitty door and has to get up and let the poor animal in at ungodly hours in the night. Couldn't stand the prolonged meowings... It even bangs the door to get your attention. Scared the crap out of us sometimes.. Well, I sincerely do hope that the cat you've buried wasn't yours and that it'll return to your side soon. I don't really know about the pound visiting towns because in my country, the pounds only catches strays when the populace reports them. But then, that's only dogs, they never took cats.

Pounds don't usually just drive around looking for animals, they come by if called by someone. It's doubtful they would bother with a cat anyway, they're usually looking for dogs that might harm someone.
It seems grisly to ask, but was the cat found really so badly damaged that no one could positively identify it as your cat? Not even if it were taken to the vet? And how was it that this cat was by your house? Did it get run over then carried there, or did it walk there and collapse? Sounds odd.
I hate to say it, but unless your cat comes home in a very short time you'd have to conclude this was your cat.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose a kitty. I'm crying just thinking about it. Wait a little... your kitty might come back. But if he/she doesn't, then you could consider giving another one a new home. Go to a shelter (not to petsmart, or petco, and definitely not to a pet store) and rescue a cat that needs a home. There are so many of them in need of loving, and so many get put down every day because there are no homes for them. You can love another cat in honor of the one you lost. It won't be cheating his or her memory; it will be a kind of commemoration and a new beginning all in one.

OMG!! Just the person before you reported her cat died too. This is so sad to hear about kitties passing away. I'm so sorry to hear about this and hope that kitty wasn't yours. Animal control does go around other neighborhoods and pick up strays. Be sure to check the shelters EVERY DAY because your cat may show up. And if they do get your cat you have 3 days to claim kitty or it's put up for adoption or euthanized if it's a kill shelter like so many are. Put signs up all over your neigborhood for a 1 mile radius and knock on people's doors and hand out picture flyers.

I hope you find your kitty and if you do, PLEASE do not ever let our be an outdoor cats. They always get hurt by cars, people who like to pick them up and hurt them, dump them far away from home or worse.

that might not be your cat! That`s good and some cats like to go out and mate. Maybe your cat might be mating and won`t come back for days or even weeks. it`s okay and if it doesn`t come back for a few months, it`s either dead or caught at the pound. Check the pound regualrly and no i don`t think pounds visit town. If your cat comes back, try not to let it outside without anyone there to care for it.

It could be different, I'm sorry though, my cat went up the road, the farthest she's ever gone, and she got hit and left 2 kittens behind. her sister raised the kittens and they are alive and well. Her name was Midnight and her kittens were tiger lilly and her sisters name is callie. She was an awesome cat but she was really sick. Maybe your cat just got lost or went too far and got taken in by someone, try putting up posters and calling the pound and asking, it would help.

this is indeed sad, and i hate it when a pet dies, but that is a part of life and a part of having a pet.
animal control doesn't very often catch cats, unless someone has complained about ferrel cats.
you will grieve and that is a good thing, and eventually you will get through your grieving and get on with life, and probably having another pet, life does go on. for now it is o.k. to cry and feel a little mad, too maybe...that is a part of the grieving process...

Sorry about the cat, but it might not even be yours. Go check the pounds and see in there is a cat that looks like yours. You might be surprised if it is their, so try it.

So sorry to hear that. It's hard to tell if its your cat or not. But, if you get another please don't let it outside to roam. If you can not keep it in your yard you should keep it in the house. People do not like stray animals and may harm them or even kill them. Please take care of your animals and know where they are at all times.
