Is it fair, yes, I spank my children for violating rules when the rules of our home are broken. I don't spank for small problems but disrespect or verbal abuse to my wife or myself will not be tolerated. I suggest that you think about that next time you have the urge to mouth off to your parents. There is an old saying back when I was growing up, "You can get more flys with honey then you can with vinegar." Unfair, no I do think grounding for two weeks after a spanking but one week would be enough. I am not your father though. Think about what you say before you open that mouth.

Saying bad words to your mom is disrespectful. A spanking would be the least of my worries if I said something like that to one of my parents. Yes, you did deserve it. Learn not to say those words to your parents (the person who gave birth to you) and it won't happen again. It's as simple as that.

Different people have different opinions about spanking a child. Sounds like it might have been to hard on you. I suggest you talk with your parents and tell them our side of the story. Also say that you were really hurt from the spanking.

I don't know about the spanking. You seem like you're too old for it somehow. but I do whole heartedly agree with you being grounded. no one should ever speak to their mothers that way. But obviously they didn't ground you enough. you still have access to the computer!!!
