Some kids just have a higher metabolism and other dont. I know when I was a kid in daycare I could clear 3 plates of food and be hungry 2 hours later but never gained weight from high metabolism. If you are concerned about this meaning something is wrong with her just bring it up at her next doctor appt chances are there is nothing wrong with her just think back to when you were a child and your eating habits or weight gain and if you were the opposite then ask you husband or his mom things like this are typically genetic from one parent or another. So dont fret she will gain the weight when her body is ready.

If she's really active and eats plenty she might just have a high metabolism. my 4 year old has been skinny minny since she was born despite having a good appetite. Also, if she's running around a lot she's burning loads of calories. As long as she's on the right weight curve she's fine. Consult your Pedi to make sure her weight is good and don't worry if people think you're not feeding her enough. You can't force them to eat more than they need. if her body need nourishment she'll eat.

At this age they have high metabolisms, and are very active. Don't worry about it. Also, don't feed her more than a normal portion size for a toddler, because it'll bring on bad eating habits as she grows. Offer nutritious snacks like fruits and vegetables and keep her on a healthy diet so as she grows and her metabolism slows she won't gain a lot of weight.

I'm sure she's not eating any more than she "should!" It's your responsibility to offer food, and the child's responsibility to eat. There's nothing you can do outside of that. I'm sure you can call up your regular pediatrician and ask. If you're really concerned, s/he'll be able to pull out your daughter's growth chart and show you that she's following her own curve and not straying too far from it. If not - the Dr. should see a red flag and check into seeing if it's a parasite, virus, gland or other scenario. I think seeing the growth chart will alleviate any qualms you're having though.

I think their weight really tapers off around this point. And they're like little balls of energy - if she's anything like my 3-year-old son they move faster than a streak of lightning at this age. Constant motion and activity! Unless she's losing weight, I wouldn't be too concerned - her weight gain will probably be very slow. Is your pediatrician concerned?

Your daughter maybe just has a fast metabolism, this would explain why she eats so much but does not gain weight. If you are concerned, talk to her pediatrician at your next check-up!!

If this a persistent problem talk to the pediatrician. It could possibly be a tumor by the pitituary gland. It's rare especially for her age, but it could happen. High metabolism could always be an option.
