I was thinking I could put some glaze on them but I dont have an idea what would look good with minnimal spending money I probably could do it myself I just need some advice. The cabinets are just clear right now

Maple cabinets are beautiful. Please don't chnage the wood. My suggestion is to dress up your kitchen with beautiful knobs. and maybe a new coat of wall paint ... or a wall paper boarder. Change your kitchen curtains and color and you will have a new kitchen to make you have and pleased....

You could stain them or paint a totally different color over them. Another way to change the look of cabinets is to replace the knobs/handles with a new style.

you are not saying what look you are going for, but, you could antique them. at sears or any paint store, they sell kits. or you could paint them one color, then get some crackle medium at the craft store, paint that over the top, when the top coat dries, it will crack, giving it a nice old appearance..
