This phrase 'bums me out'. Is it a really old phrase. Do modern pple still use it now?

I would say it is an older phrase, but not too far back, maybe started around the 60's or 70's. But I know for sure that people still use it, and all variations of the term.

absolutely in use! I still use it... picked it up around 1968???

i am 53, born in 1953 wuz 15 in 1968.

That was popular in the eighties, along with the always good "Bummer"

I think most people today would say "that's a bummer" instead.
