It sounds to me that you are still holding on to some things and not putting all your trust in God that He will supply all of your needs, not "some" of them. Keep trying do not give up. God loves you, but in order for you to receive the Holy Ghost, you may have to change some things, "clean House", get sin out of your life.

You must belong to a Pentecostal Church. There is much disagreement regarding the Holy Spirit. I am guessing you mean the gift of tongues. Some Christians believe this is the only sign that you have the Holy Spirit others do not even believe that tongues are for today. It was giving to the apostles to spread the gospel. Whatever, Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit when He left the world, He said nothing that you would speak in tongues when you received Him. He said that the comforter would come to convict the world of sin, nothing was said about tongues. My point is you have the Holy Spirit if you have accepted Christ.

I assure you that when you belong to Jesus Christ, you receive the Holy Ghost. As it is written: "You, however, are not of the flesh but under the control of the Spirit, since God's Spirit lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to him." (Romans 8:9)
It appears that you are looking for some ecstatic experience to validate your faith. This is not necessary, nor biblical. You receive the gift of God through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit at that time.
Once you have Him, you cannot get more of Him. You are complete. However, you must surrender your life to Him through obedience. He must have more of you, not the other way around.
As to spiritual gifts, these are given by God for the building up (edifying) of the Body of Christ. Not everyone has the same spiritual gifts. As it is written: "Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they? Not all have the gift of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they?" (I Corinthians 12:29-30)
Christianity is about faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross for our salvation. The rest is telling others and growing in that faith. Anything else is merely a tool to those ends. Look to Jesus first, and then He will distribute whatever gifts He desires to give you. Do not seek an experience, some of these are nothing more than self-aggrandizement.
Let Jesus be Lord, and you His servant. The rest will follow on its own.

Wow, that's deep. I grew up thinking that you had to "catch" the holy ghost...It's not about something jumping into your body...it's about the spirit of God being in you in that it governs your conduct. It's having a knowledge of God and His will for you. All that other jumping and shouting is just emotionalism taught in the church....otherwise people would be catching the ghost driving to work, or cooking dinner or shopping at Wal-mart.

If you are truly saved you have the Holyspirit as the scripture says:
Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Check these scriptures out also as these show what the Holy Spirit does in a believers life
Mat 28:20, Jhn 14:26-27, Jhn 16:13-16,
1Peter 1:9-12, Acts 13:4, Romans chapter 8, 1Cor 6:19, Lk 12:11, Gal 4:6, Rom 15:13-19, Titus 3:4-8, 1Corth 12:3,12-13, 2Corth 3:17-18
People say that you have to be "baptised of the Holy Spirit" which is a false doctrine as there is only 1 baptism:
Eph 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
Eph 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

you have to talk to a minister about your want to have the holy ghost. by the by, whenever you pray, you are filled with the holy ghost. that is when it "comes into our souls". if you wish to "see" the holy ghost in action, go to a pentacostal service. i don't wish to offend anyone by saying this! i have heard of people praying in tongues and fall over during services because they are so full of the holy ghost that they "overflow".
don't test god. just live and do as he wants you to.

Think about your dilema in this way:
I can't get air; yet air is all around me and in me. You simply need to breathe.
You have the Holy Ghost within you, the minute you opened and received Christ as your Lord and Savior. Now thank and praise Him for the wonderful Spirit who has come to indwell you. God is in the Son, the Son as the Holy Spirit, is living in you.

You continue to pray years together at the end you may get the Evil Spirit!
Stop praying and see what happens! I prayed for twenty four years but nothing happened. I stopped praying and now I found the real spirit.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

This is a very deep and personal question that I cannot answer without being very personal (too personal for Yahoo Answers). I know EXACTLY what you're going through and I'd love to give some advice and maybe some guidance. Send me an email and I will respond, because I just can't post something so personal on Yahoo Answers. I would send you an email but you have it blocked.
