In the Metropolitan area of San Juan go to the Caribe Hilton. The hotel is located between the old San Juan and the Condado area with beautiful views in all the rooms. The hotel have a private beach (probably the only one in the island), nice pool, beautiful landscape and believe me a small castle.The best rates I believe are in Sept. to Nov. in the hurricane season( I will recommended November because the pick hurricane season is in Sept.). Avoid Holidays and Christmas times. You can also try the Marriott Hotels in Condado and Isla Verde (near the airport).
Outside San Juan look for the Conquistador Hotel in Fajardo, in a hill overlooking the Caribbean sea. The hotel have a private island Palominito, a hotel ferry make regulars trips, and excellent amenities. If you like simple accommodations and less expensive try Paradores the Puerto Rico, they are small hotels around the island some with beach and another in the mountain.

If you are traveling to Ponce. Which is 30-45 min. south of San Juan on the coast. A great place to stay is the Holiday Inn Hotel and Casino. The place is not crowded at all and it is beautiful. It is worth every penny. Also you can stay in the most expensive for not very cheap. It is a CLEAN hotel. Hope this works and enjoy your trip to Puerto Rico!

We stayed on the Caribe Playa motel close to Patillas! effective, small motel, and it has has an noticeably effective sea coast! And once you're searching for quiet, basically to hearken to the sound of the waves, i'd deffinately recomend!

Hey......go to ... puertorico.craigslist.org.....there U can do a search for anything U want to look for in whatever price range U desire.....I am pretty positive U will find whatever U are looking for there......have fun !!!

All of the above are good recommendations.... However be mind-full of the rampant high crime (homicides, robberies, you name it)... Good luck!
