I neutered my cat , he's 1 year old. I thought that neutered cats don't disappear for days as other cats do. Mine has been out for 4 days :(

Although neutering can reduce wandering by cats, it doesn't necessarily eliminate it completely. I'd be very concerned at this point that something has happened to your cat - that he is injured or firghtened and can't get home. You should contact your local animal control authorities, post signs and ask neighbors to see if anyone has seen your cat.

Neutered cats still, at times, disappear for days. They meet up with their buddies, chase girl cats (although they don't know what to do with them once they catch them) and unfortunately fight.
Cats should really be inside animals. Gone are the days they could just roam free. We now have too many predators for them like: cars, wild animals, un-neutered cats, diseases they can get from fighting. I have 3 FIV+ cats that were Toms prior to being in my care. They got that disease from fighting and blood transfer from one cat to the other.

Healthier? How do you work that out when they sit on their *** all day. Lets all lock ourselves in prison cells so we live longer... yeh right. Does he still come back ok though? If he comes back then just let him do as he pleases :) My old male cat used to disappear for days and then he'd be back... its in their nature. Do any of your neighbours leave of food etc? Maybe that has got him thinking he has several homes... Do you have a cat flap? Maybe he can't get in when he wants so he looks in other places for shelter... I think i'd try keeping him in for a month or two and then let him wonder out and see how he behaves.

I have 3 neutered cats 1 is a wonderer and unfortunately he's deaf so he can't go outside unsupervised. 1 is a lover boy and he is satisfied with hangin around and 1 comes and goes as he pleases. so yes, it is not uncommon for them to disappear.

Your cat is male right??? Male cats are prone to wondering off far away from home for set periods of time. That is why i own a female cat who doesnt go further than our garden.

I expect he is just doing what i said before and i would try not to worry too much, although i know its hard. :)

i have a 4 year old male, and hes disappeared for a week at a time. if you have a barn or something, it is possible yhat your cat got shut in there. if you live in town, you might want to think about geting a collar with a name and address on it. or he might just be mad at you about the vet visit.

OUR MALE-NEUTERED CAT ONLY GOES OUT FOR SHORT PERIODS SUPERVISED. THIS MORNING HE WENT OUT WITH DAD AND VANISHED. HE HAS BEEN MISSING SINCE 6:30AM THIS MORNING AND NO ONE HAS SEEN HIM. I HAVE WALKED THE STREETS ALL DAY CALLING HIM. HE NEVER LEAVES ANY FURTHER THAN NEXT DOOR. I AM DEVASTATED. I HAVE CRIED ALL DAY AND JUST CAME INSIDE AFTER CALLING HIM TIL 10:00PM. THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

Yes they do go and have fun with friends. They find other cats to play with and fight, sometimes.
