Depends on how skillful you are, and depends a bit on the guy.
The classic mistake the girls make is just to flee at a dead run without leaving any "trail" to follow. That just makes them think that you're incredibly scared of them, or maybe somehow mentally retarded.

Do it right and you can dangle a guy on your string for an amazingly long time (years!)

Now, the ethical value of doing so...

All guys like the thrill of the chase! I can tell you this from a guys perspective! It makes it all the sweeter when she slows down long enough for you to catch her! The women these days do not know how to play the game. Men get bored too easily with women that they can have today and discard the next day! When a woman has a sense of morality it makes her look like someone worth chasing even though a guy may not show it at first, he will be most interested in pursuit of this woman because there are not that many of them now.It shows she is a woman of quality and character. Stick with the old fashioned way ladies because your grandmas knew something you gals never learned! The guys that move on are only after one thing anyway and are not worth having! Something always looks better to you if you can't have it. It is always more desirable! Trust me!

The problem with playing hard to get is that too many girls don't understand the law of supply and demand. When you're young girls haven't got enough life experience to differentiate. Further conformity among cliques make a lot of girls pretty much the same. When a girl plays hard to get, it is possible (even likely) that a guy will move on to a more receptive respondant.

It depends what he wants from you. If he just wants to hook up, then he will look elsewhere. If he really likes you, he will pursue you. Playing hard to get is definitely better than being too easy. You will get more respect that way. But you shouldn't be impossible to get either :)

If you play hard to get, some guys will think you are too full of yourself, and steer clear of you.
