No, you can't replace zuchinni with cucumber. Cucumbers are a completely different vegetable, and they contain a lot more water than zuchinni. The taste is also very different.

You could probably substitute another squash such as butternut for the zuchinni, but the taste will be somewhat different.

I wouldn't suggest substituting a cucumber for a zuchinni. They are very different and would not work to swap places. The best way to can think to describe the difference is a cucumber is more like a fruit.. like a tomato is a fruit. Its good in salads and on sandwiches... and, not sure, but I've never seen a cooked recipie that would include a cucumber.
A zuchinni is a vegetable in the squash family, like a pumpkin or a gourd. They would work to swap between a recipie that asks for yellow squash. They can be baked into a casserole or bread. You can slice and bread them and fry them like potatoes.

I've done this before and the kids did not even notice!! I made a greek salad and ran out of cucumber but had a zuchinni on hand. Diced up with dressing, they didn't bat an eye, and kids of all people notice weird foods!! However it depends on your recipe. If you're making Taziki, then no. If it's a salad or something like that, don't tell anyone and see if they notice ;)!!

I wouldn't. The cucumber has a lot more liquid in it, so the proportion of solids to liquids may be off. Also, the cucumber has a more distinct flavor than zucchini, so the recipe may not work with that.

It would definitely change the consistency and taste. Personally, I don't think I would. Zucchini is part of the squash family and is fairly dense. Cucumbers are used to make pickles and give off more liquid.

First off is it a cooked dish? If so I would not suggest using a cucumber. If it is a raw dish like a salad then by all means use a cuke.

zucchini is a squash and cucumber isn't. They taste differently. If you want a similar taste, stay with another kind of squash.

If you don't have zucchini you can use summer or yellow squash, cucumbers have too much water in them.
